Rain the whole way? That’s how it looked on the NWS doppler.
Denali5
Glad to hear you are there safely.
Omnes Omnibus
Don’t mop.

So the day is ending with a win!
Another Scott
Rest well.
Best wishes,
Scott.
Suzanne
I hope you got eegee’s on the way out of AZ, maybe stopped for Braum’s on the way back.
Juju
@Omnes Omnibus: I looked at your Bluesky today.
Moontruck
Josie
Thanks for letting us know. Sleep well.
Sandia Blanca
Hurray! Have been thinking about the three of you today.
Omnes Omnibus
@Juju: But Moontruck could be pretty cool.
Juju
@Omnes Omnibus: It could, but I was thinking of a completely different sort of moon.
Omnes Omnibus
@Juju: Golly.
CaseyL
Thanks for letting us know!
I hope the weather was the only thing hellish about the trip.
Professor Bigfoot
Glad you made it safe— a long hot shower and a nice long snooze will be good for you.
Of course, when you wake up tomorrow you’ll still be in West Virginia, but still… <snickers, ducks, runs>
Seriously— glad you’re home safe.
mrmoshpotato
Sleep well, and go Cubs!
Lapassionara
@Suzanne: I remember eegee’s from when I lived in Tucson. A must have.
WaterGirl
@CaseyL: Over the course of the week, Cole will make a list of all the hellish things and share them with us.
Suzanne
@Lapassionara: I miss eegee’s very much.
CaseyL
@WaterGirl:
“Jackassery All the Way Home” will be a welcome break from “The Self-Defenestration of the US,” though there will probably be elements of the latter involved in the telling of the former.
WaterGirl
@CaseyL: It’s hard to argue with that!
Bill Arnold
Glad you’re home and safe.
Around 4:55 PM Eastern, the iPhone in my pocket spontaneously started playing a song by one J. Cole (“cLOUDs”). Genuinely twitched enough to look up the artist/lyrics.
George
@Juju:
“I’m glad you made it home in one piece.”
Assumes facts not in evidence.
lowtechcyclist
Glad you made it safe and sound. That’s a lot of driving for three days even under good conditions, which I know they weren’t.
Nukular Biskits
That’s it? That’s all we entertainment-starved wretches get?
I demand a refund!
Omnes Omnibus
@Nukular Biskits: You need to request it in an all caps email to Cole. Make sure you cc WaterGirl and Tom Levenson. I mean, follow the correct procedure, man.
mrmoshpotato
Woo! Do we pack brooms for tomorrow? Go Cubs go!
Sadly, no crazy thunderstorm is forecast for Milwaukee.
Nukular Biskits
@Omnes Omnibus:
Should I include emojis/emoticons?.🤣
Omnes Omnibus
@Nukular Biskits: How persuasive do you want to be?
Gin & Tonic
@Omnes Omnibus: Jesus, did Levenson kick your dog or something?
Omnes Omnibus
@Gin & Tonic: He gets too much of a pass around here.
Kayla Rudbek
Did you run into any hail on the way? Maryland got some this afternoon around 4 pm (it wasn’t supposed to rain until after 6 pm today, National Weather Service cuts affected the forecast accuracy?) the thunderstorm started about 3-something and then turned into a hailstorm. Then more intense rain after 6 pm during the drive back to Virginia. At least I was inside and shopping, Mr Rudbek was out riding his bike in the near vicinity and had to shelter under a bridge until the hail stopped.
lowtechcyclist
@Kayla Rudbek:
I am so envious! That’s a story I’d be telling for the rest of my life.
No hail in my part of southern Maryland, alas. I wasn’t out on a bike, either – I was doing yard chores instead.
Kayla Rudbek
@lowtechcyclist: yeah, he managed to get to shelter, some of the vendors at the yarn festival took damage to their goods as they were outside in tents. Apparently one of the potters had shelves fall down and smashed up a lot of her inventory, other booths and tents had flooding (and since the morning had been clear, they might not have put down all the matting that they would have done if the ground had already been wet). So I was in the main exhibition building during the storm and I hadn’t visited all the outside vendors yet, which meant that I missed out on some of them. The festival goes on today, but I will probably do online ordering from the vendors who got hail damage.
skerry
@Kayla Rudbek: My daughter and I had planned to go this morning but have cancelled after seeing some pics of the damage. I’ve been attending for decades and don’t remember anything like this storm.
I’ll do some online ordering too.
Sherparick
@Baud: Especially considering the weather yesterday over Tennessee, Kentucky, & Ohio yesterday. It must have been like driving in a submarine. Glad you made it back John.
Kayla Rudbek
@skerry: I think that most of the vendors are up and running at the festival today; I just routinely go in person for one day only because I can spend more than enough money on one day 😁 I will have to post pics of my haul over on Bluesky soon.
