This poll was from 2 weeks ago, and you know he’s lost ground since then!
But okay, this is a comparison at the 100-day mark, so these numbers stand.
What has the orange menace and his cohorts been up to?
Here are the first 10 I came up with, I’m sure you can add more!
- The economy is taking a nosedive and he is blaming his economy on Biden (good one, now pull the other leg!)
- He had to fire his National Security Advisor (and deputy) while in the middle of ongoing military operations.
- He set high expectations (prices will be lower on Day 1!) that he couldn’t meet, so the rubber is starting to hit the road.
- He lost the election in Canada (oh my god, authoritarianism doesn’t look so great after all!)
- He lost the election in Australia (oh my god, authoritarianism doesn’t look so great after all, again!)
- His approval rating on immigration is sinking like a stone.
- Michael Flynn, considered nearly a saint on the right is the victim of a conspiracy theory that he orchestrated Jan 6 (are we sure that’s a conspiracy theory?)
- SCOTUS (okay, SCOTUS -2) signals that they have had enough of his shit.
- Federal Judge Beryl Howell’s slaps down attempts to punish law firms critical of his administration.
- Looks like the muskrat may be slinking out the side door.
- Bonus: he beat his own record for worst job approval!
He is trashing the place faster than we can clean it up, but it’s also good to look at his losses.
Surely we can pile on some more, right?
Baud
How looow can he go?
WaterGirl
@Baud:
With any luck, the spell breaks and he hits 27%.
RevRick
The Democrats smile, W kind of smirked, and Trump scowls, because he is incapable of joy.
WaterGirl
@RevRick: I noticed that, too, and almost remarked on that in the post. He either looks like a 10-year-old who is trying to look tough, or like he is perpetually constipated and doesn’t know what to do about it.
RevRick
@Baud: Are you asking about his approval or about his capacity for destruction?
Spanky
@WaterGirl: Are we going to start calling him “27” instead of “47”?
Spanky
@RevRick: He’s trying to look like his hero Mussolini.
Which reminds me, does anyone know where there is an Esso station?
RevRick
@WaterGirl: Oh, there’s definitely that tough-guy pose element. His imagination can go no further than bullying to get his way. Which means he will never know joy.
NotMax
How low can you go?
:) //
Hildebrand
Absolutely!
We need to keep the pressure on: pile on, mock with exuberant abandon, call our reps to remind them that we can see their supine obeisance – and likewise remind that they will face judgement for that at the next election, support allies, welcome support from others in our efforts, jam the sticks into the spokes, and generally make things difficult for the orange bastard.
schrodingers_cat
This is good but not enough. I want Rs to lose several elections in a row. Then I will celebrate.

Turn left two blocks past the Sinclair station, it’s diagonally across the street from the Flying A.

It’s aspirational. :-)

I feel like our long national nightmare would be over if the entire GOP, manosphere, religious right, etc. would just get more fiber in their diets.
Life is so great when one’s poop is quality!
hitchhiker
Well, just this morning he went on tv and said he’s not sure if he has to follow the constitution. And repeated that little girls don’t need more than a couple of dolls. And whined about how everybody keeps asking him about small businesses that are going under fast because of tariffs — which actually made me laugh out loud.
He wants to be asked about big businesses, see? Because they’re gonna be doing just great!
The party when this crusty old thug kicks the bucket is going to an epic worldwide event; I just hope I get to see it.
zhena gogolia
@hitchhiker: Me too.
RevRick
@Spanky: they’re ExxonMobil now.
RevRick
@NotMax: Are you ever. Not to mention Sohio, Boron, Amoco, Texaco, Gulf, and Calso
different-church-lady
We somehow went from the guy who wanted to take us out for ice cream in his convertible to the guy who thinks our kids have too many dolls.
Suzanne
@different-church-lady: I don’t know if FFOTUS is aware that millions of American suburbanites own giant $100K pickup trucks exclusively for hauling home huge loads of goods from Sam’s Club. I’m sure they’ll be thrilled to make the transition to American goods.

Today the White House released a new AI created image of Trump. No, it’s not the Pope.
It’’s Trump as a muscular, lightsaber-bearing Sith Lord. This is not from Trump‘s personal account, it is an official image from the White House.
Imagine the respect we will receive from foreign countries!
Captain C
@WaterGirl: A constipated 10-year-old trying to look tough?
RevRick
@Hildebrand: Short term, I wonder how effective it is to hurl insults at GOP Representatives and Senators. Since Democrats don’t control any levers of power, I think we need to drive wedges in the GOP in order to thwart Trump’s agenda.
And that may mean expressing thanks to GOP Representatives or Senators:
who are opposed to abandoning Ukraine and our allies;
who don’t want to gut the Inflation Reduction Act or other Biden legislation;
who are uncomfortable with the rising authoritarianism.
WaterGirl
@different-church-lady: Translation: he wanted a doll when he was a kid, his dad punished him for it, and now no one should have dolls, at least not very many.

What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?
I’m trying to decide between putting “I did that!” Signs with Trump’s ugly mug on them on empty store shelves this summer. Or ones that say “I never did that!” One’s with Biden’s face on them.
Kind of feel like the latter might be more effective because it would point out the Democrats suck less than Republicans even though everyone seems to feel like the latter is the case these days. Like it would remind folks who thought Biden was a senile old fuck up for four years that he didn’t fuck things up nearly this bad. In fact, compared to Trump he was a ringing success.
zhena gogolia
@What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?: Not just compared to Trump. compared to anyone.
Melancholy Jaques
@RevRick:
I don’t see the point of hurling insults, but I do not think any Republican should be given any credit or positive words unless & until they break with Trump openly & unambigiously.
LesGS
@Raoul Paste: At least they were spot on and gave him the red light saber of a Sith.
What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?
@zhena gogolia: I realize that – I’m informed enough to know he was really good – but right now we need to remind all the people who thought it couldn’t get worse than Biden that Biden was actually good and it in fact got tons worse when he was no longer President.

And yet, frustrating that a poll published today at msnbc with a fairly large sample (moe apx 2 pts) found that over 90% of voters (whether Trump, Harris, or 3p) still believe they made the correct choice in how they voted in November. Sorry, don’t have the link writing from cell phone, but you should be able to find it fairly easy, Also, just because sample size is large enough to nominally enable validity, no way to tell whether the sample was actually well-chosen, ie no cross-tabs etc.
WaterGirl
@What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?: The people you are trying to reach wouldn’t believe “Biden” if he said that.
Trump stickers are the clear choice, in my humble opinion.
Jobeth
@WaterGirl: his grandkids have rich parents who probably buy them rooms full of toys and grumpy grandpa can’t understand why they have to have so many. My dad was the same way with my kids – he loved them to death but got annoyed at all the toys and clutter (and yes we probably bought too many and they had way more than I ever did).

Honestly, are Trump and his Republican toadies behaving like a party prepared to face voters in a free and fair election? I’m not convinced we are having midterms and I am downright skeptical Trump is ever planning on leaving office.
WaterGirl
@Jobeth: That, too. “Why does everyone get what they want except me?”
*assuming he ever sees his grandkids or ever goes to their home. And that assumes facts not in evidence! :-)
Matt McIrvin
@cmorenc: I’m pretty sure you’d find that kind of result after EVERY election in US history.
One of the persistent results, as I recall, is that if you simply ask people who they voted for last time, the number who say they voted for the winner is always far larger than the fraction who actually did. They may not even be lying or fabricating memories, though I’m sure some are– it may be differential reluctance to respond to the survey.
Another Scott
Meanwhile, Popehat has pointed us to a story about a Rochester MN woman who is trying to raise $1M to “protect her family” after being filmed yelling racist insults at a 5 year old. On the other side KAALTV.com:
Good, good.

@Jobeth: It seems obvious to me that you are right and this is about his own grandkids being spoiled. Heck, I think my (step) grandkids have too much crap. A nice little recession will straighten them all out.
CHETAN MURTHY
@What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?: the former. The former. Negative campaigning works. It’s the only thing that works.
dmsilev
@cmorenc: But, put another way, nearly ten percent do regret their choice. Since there’s no particular reason for Harris voters to have changed their minds (doubt there are too many who now wish they had voted for Trump because of all the winning…), it’s reasonable to assume that most of that several percent are Trump voters. Given how close the election was, it’s quite a bit bigger than his margins.
And the shit show has, sadly, a long ways yet to run.
GOP Reps in any vaguely competitive districts should be very very worried.
Splitting Image
@Archon:
Alternatively, they’re all just trying to do as much of their masters’ bidding before the midterms as it takes to get a sinecure from them.
When you have dozens of ideologically-driven billionaires backing your party, there are jobs aplenty for anyone who is willing to destroy a regulatory agency. Even if voters throw out every Republican in Washington, that will only be about 250 or so phony baloney jobs that Murdoch, Musk, Thiel, et al. will have to scrounge up.
Baud
@cmorenc:
I don’t need any more evidence to be persuaded as to the nature of the electorate. Maybe people will improve as they get to really see Trump unleashed, but that won’t change the way things were.
Matt McIrvin
@Archon: Trump is NOT planning on ever leaving office. However, I don’t see how he can prevent state governments from holding a midterm.
I also think he doesn’t care a great deal about any election that doesn’t have him in it.
The big question is what the hell is going to happen in 2028. Trump clearly wants to run for a third term, preferably unopposed. Constitutionally, of course, he can’t even be elected a third time. But he could try to run and dare people to do something about it, and the Republican Party will probably oblige him.
Or he could try some dumb trick like “run as Vance’s running mate with the promise that Vance will resign immediately and try to exploit the legal theory that he’s still eligible to be VP because there’s a difference between ineligibility to be President and ineligibility to be elected President,” “run his son also named Donald Trump with the open understanding that Don Sr. is the real candidate”, etc.
He could also do things like throw all of his opponents in jail, legally persecute opposition political organizations, etc., all of which he’s already trying to do. Or just have the Air Force carpet-bomb all the blue cities into rubble and declare himself god-emperor.

@Matt McIrvin: Like Vance wouldn’t renege on the deal?
cmorenc
@Matt McIrvin: Another observation about the high % of Trump voters with “no regrets” after 100 days is that the tide of news coverage slanted pejoratively against Ds took years to erode once-blue or swing states/voters against Ds, but over years of time, grain by grain, pebble by pebble it inexorably did until the red sea overwashed the blue land. Likewise, now that the tide of coverage is running on balance against Trump, it will take awhile to erode reddish voter leanings – but adverse coverage plus adverse voter experience will eventually break through reddish inclinations.
That said, if the erosive pressure happens strongly and broadly enough, like breaking a dam, the change can be fairly abrupt and large. That’s why the Project 2025 proponents are so eager to push their agenda through with massive abruptness and quickly build strong fortifications around them – they know their changes are deeply unpopular and may provoke dramatic electoral reversal if not structurally fortified against them quickly.

@cmorenc: Just confirms the fact that we have a lot of ill informed people who are dug in. It is a maddeningly sad fact. It seems that so many discussions revolve around how to make them see reality.
I think Ron White may have said it best:
“You can’t fix stupid”.
Suzanne
@Princess: Honestly, the sheer amount of STUFF that my kids own is a really big stressor for me. It’s a constant cycle of cleaning up, trying to keep things away from the dog, speaking to them sharply about cleaning up their messes, spending limited free time to haul things to Goodwill, etc. Part of what makes it a difficult thing is that stuff comes from everywhere. They get gifts and treats from family members, but also, I basically can’t take them anywhere without being given some free crap. Stickers or plastic toys or some branded goodie that I have to “disappear”. In my heart of hearts, I would love to get away from this.
But not through pricing people out of stuff. Because being able to buy affordable shoes that serve their purpose, and well-fitting underwear, and office-appropriate clothing, and reliable cars or bicycles or whatever….. that matters.
Suzanne
@They Call Me Noni: Ooooh please share! I have a crockpot pumpkin oatmeal recipe that I love in the autumn! Delicious and keeps everything chugging along just fine!

@Baud: I would absolutely trade cheap consumer goods and high housing, education, and transportation costs for the inverse. But that isn’t the deal on offer.
They Call Me Noni
@Suzanne: Here you go:
I coat my crock pot with a little canola oil and then add:
8 C water
1 can full fat coconut milk
2 C steel cut oats
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
I cook mine on high for about 45 minutes and then turn it down to low for a couple hours. Stir occasionally. When the oats are done I add some cinnamon and brown sugar because it just makes it better. Freezes well too. I keep a bit out and then put the rest in containers and freeze.
My great-granddaughter loves it. She requests it as a snack!!
Easy peasy and tons of fiber. Of course you can add fruit, apple sauce, etc. when reheating in the microwave.
Baud
@Suzanne:
Of course not. That would be communism.

@They Call Me Noni:
In the r/Leopards reddits, the most common MAGA whinge is “I voted for x,y,z and still support DJTidiot, but I did not vote for a,b,c,d,e”.
the MAGgot’s being absolutely destroyed whinge is “I did not vote for x, (yes you did, and x is mostly tariffs) but “both sides”. The most common vow is “I will never vote again.”
I have only encountered 1, 1, 1 single vow of “I am now a Democrat”, and that was from a woman who’s husband was swept up by ICE, and it was only because MAGgot’s swarmed her in vile replies, while the Democratic people she had been arguing with online, swarmed her with sympathy, support and advice.
On top of that, nobody likes to admit that they were conned or scammed, and not everybody is honest with pollsters.
So,……………………………………….

@bbleh: I know and it’s infuriating. I see that the DOJ has reached a settlement with the family of Ashley Bobbitt. I didn’t read the article because I am not in the mood to feel my head explode. Just the headline was enough for me.
They Call Me Noni
@Jay: And I just don’t understand what the secret sauce is to combat that shit. We are supposed to be an informed electorate for heavens sake! What do you do when people refuse to be informed? It’s like page 1, paragraph 1, sentence 1 in the be a good citizen handbook.
Another Scott
@They Call Me Noni: I’m not interested enough to dig through this myself, but I recall that she was shot by a US Capitol Police officer.
Why should the US DOJ be shoveling $30M to her family when he was a member of the USCP??
(As I say, I’m not interested enough to look. I just would not be at all surprised if this were some sort of payoff via money that 47’s minions control that has absolutely nothing to do with the actual actions and authorities on that day.)
Grr….
Best wishes,

Jay
@They Call Me Noni:
Unfortunately, a key ingredient in the secret sauce is media and social media.
Another key ingredient is teaching critical thinking in schools.
When I am driving through “redneck” country, I have the radio set on CBC Radio. I get actual news on the hour, a full 1 hour news program, 3 times a day, educational and informative programs on science, indigenous issues, nature, medicine, and three long comedy programs.
Every other radio station is either gorp, or resentment.
On the bright side the “both siders/ never vote again” metric is about 1 in 4 amongst 3 time MAGgots.
They Call Me Noni
@Another Scott: Exactly.
Matt McIrvin
@Suzanne: My attitude is, sure, cheap consumer goods don’t make you happy, but this is pretty rich coming from the party that has been touting cheap consumer goods as the thing that makes you happiest for decades, and SPECIFICALLY took down the previous administration by complaining that they weren’t providing cheap enough consumer goods. These are the same people who constantly complained about Bidenflation now OK with inflation and touting it as a character-building exercise.
Which is similar to why I’m skeptical that people supported Trump because they’re upset with an economy that preserves long-term structural inequities: OK, so why were they fine with those inequities as long as Trump was in office? Trump was President before, all that crap was operating then too, but they thought it was fine!
They Call Me Noni
@Jay: Well at least 25% of them have decided they may not darken the door of their polling place again which is good if they aren’t interested enough to be informed. Deciding to make no decision is a decision in itself.
Suzanne
@Matt McIrvin: I agree with you. I have my complaints about toys specifically, and how I’d personally love to have fewer…. but it is silly to argue that cheap consumer goods haven’t been a benefit to Americans, on balance.
I still think that it boils down to self-delusion and lib-owning. All the stuff we hate about FFOTUS is an asset, because they want to see us be triggered all the time. Schadenfreude.
Jay
@Matt McIrvin:
Farmers got paid to not grow stuff after St. Idiot’s tariffs 1.0 blew up their markets. They are not getting paid now, (yet) and many are deep in debt, having installed improvements that the Feds were going to pay for, but DJTdiot pulled the funding and killed the programs.
What is different now between the Circus on the Potomac I and the sequel is all the professionals left town and only the Clowns are in charge of everything, from the high wire act, to the ticket booth. One of the main acts is the DOGshit clowns slowly cutting through the tent poles with a dull saw and plastic chainsaw prop.

We gave a lot of money to Dems last year, they should use that war chest and fund townhalls across the nation where GOP are not showing up because they are afraid of the crowds.
This is another way to drive a wedge. You know the GOP are cowards and do not want to meet with their constituents.

He also claimed he’d end the Ukraine-Russia war as soon as he got elected. Which, weirdly, has not happened.
