Happy Mothers Day to moms, grams, great-grams everywhere.

The mom here is flying east to move Runner Girl out of her apartment, deal with RG’s accumulated crap, ship the car west, attend graduation, watch the last ever track meet (ACC champs), catch her breath, fly both of them home.

It’s me and the dog trying to not burn the joint down in the meantime.

    We had champagne yesterday.

Today my birthday also falls on mother’s Day so I got to wish my mother and my wife and they got to wish me.

Poetic justice as first born I activated mother’s Day for my mom haha.

And a nod to all other mothering individuals because even the greatest of mothers needs a break and teammates.  It sometimes takes a scrimmage.

Wow, gorgeous blooms. Thanks for sharing them.

Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate. Hugs to those who find the day hurtful or awkward or sad. Those are all legit feelings, too. This morning, I read such a post from a second-hand acquaintance, and she is the last person I could imagine sharing it. I don’t feel that I know her well enough to text her that her husband and daughter are really bright people, and ought to be able to hear this from her. Not really my business, and I see that she deleted her post. She’s on my mind, though.

The day used to be awkward for me: my own relationship with my mom was not so warm, and my MIL probably less so. My kids were always great about it, though. I’m a little peeved that when it finally became my turn to be a Matriarch, the only people I could lord over are all on the opposite coast! On the plus side, I don’t angst over preparing big family dinners and events except for the times they visit. Even then, my kids and DIL manage to prepare food and help around the house. I miss them just about every day.

So. However the day is shaping up for any of you who note the occasion, I wish you all good things. We are all going through a malevolent timeline, and that tends to heighten all the feelings. Try to find something that reminds you of the good in life.

Those double white tulips, looking like gardenias, knock my socks off!
Wish I had something to flower that deep fuchsia pink of your peony bush. I had a rose that color, john Cabot, a Canadian climber, but it needed more water. I had a geranium that color but gave it  to a Friend in the hospital with breast cancer.
