Some photos from the No Kings march in SF. The starting point was Dolores Park with a march to the Civic Center for a rally. The official schedule was gather at Dolores Park at 11:30, start to march at noon, rally at Civiv Center at 1 (with speakers, etc.) The crowd was so big that the schedule got totally shot!

Approaching Dolores Park at 11:46. Dolores St (the march route) is just to the left of the “Fuck Ice” lawn decoration.

A fun sign

Across Dolores St looking into the park. We had a small brass band playing next to us.

Still at the park, looking in the direction of the march. I love the very local sign in the shadows to the left – “Only We Get To Bully LA”

Another view of the crowd at the park.

More signs

A sign for history buffs

Taken at 1pm – when the rally was supposed to start at the Civic Center. Crowds were so huge we had only gone 2 blocks by this time! It may not be readable in the posted image, but the white sign in the middle says “We Will Over Comb” with a caricature of the orange one (with a Hitler stache)

Looking up Dolores St towards Market St. This is a very wide street – two lanes of traffic in each direction, plus a parking lane on each side, plus sidewalks – and it was packed as far forward as I could see.

Looking up Market St. just past Laguna St./Guerrero St. 1:30 pm. We just marched a few more blocks to Van Ness and then bailed out and took the train back out to the Sunset district. I could be wrong, but I doubt all the marchers were able to fit into the Civic Center plaza.

Wow! What an impressive crowd!

I like that someone wrote “STEPHEN MILLER IS A FUGLY SLUT” on a box top.
Hey, sometimes the Resistance is in the middle of moving.

I am curious what my RWNJ libertarian brother in SF is thinking about yesterday. Not curious enough to call, but curious enough to wonder.

@Suzanne: Good time management. I was never that organized.

Somebody has been recently reading the Declaration of Independence.

This is fun and reasonably on-topic:

@sab: Right?! It always ended up taking, like, twice as long as I felt like it should. I’ve been doing a fair amount of purging!

I lived on Dolores St many years ago. It is a very wide street: two lanes in each direction, plus a wide median and the sidewalks are very wide even for SF. That is a LOT of people.

@bluefoot: yes that’s a big wide street — an avenue really.

@Suzanne: We moved last August and I am still not completely uunpacked. Also have multiple tax returns on extension.
I do wash the dishes and feed the pets daily.
Suzanne
@sab: I moved five years ago, and I am unpacked, but much of my mom’s stuff is still in boxes. One project this summer is to sell some old and beautiful family china and crystal. It’s lovely, but I’m never going to use it and it’s just taking up space.

I figure I would have gone insane in the traffic heading into the city and then again trying to leave later in the afternoon — but looks like it was worth it for everyone who made it to share in the energy of this crowd. Perfect day for it. Y’all rock!
