Protest in El Cajon in east San Diego, in Republican Rep. Issa’s district. We came here rather than the big demos downtown because we were running late. The organizers expected 200 people; maybe 1500 were there.

no marching, standing by streets with signs. Lots of supportive honks from cars going by.

we brought along Butterscotch, who met a new friends

San Diego peeps know that this kind of blue protest in El Cajon is pretty amazing.

Set great pictures from around the country! The march I attended was combined with a pride event and they had a bunch of speakers from both groups. They were exceptional and put a human face to the consequences of these horrible policies at both the state and federal level. (In New Hampshire the Republicans control everything and are ramming through anti-trans legislation, voter restrictions and dismantling the public schools though vouchers and onerous laws on the public schools only). They all emphasized caring, empathy and standing up for the marginalized. The best chant was “Stand up, fight back!!” to every conservative act. That’s my new motto!

@DarbysMom: Yup. I’m astonished: 1,500 in El Cajon! Can Santee be far behind?
(Well, yeah. Because … Santee.)

That’s in my neck of the woods– I am just outside this district and 1500 in El Cajon is amazing. So heartening to see the turnout throughout San Diego County.
