Simon Rosenberg has a wide-ranging conversation with Senator Van Hollen. Part of what they talked about is next steps after No Kings on June 14.
- Standing up for science.
- Standing up for human rights.
- Making calls every single day to make our voices heard.
- Writing postcards.
- Fighting strategically for every key race.
Simon Rosenberg asked Senator Chris Van Hollen:
How important are phone calls to Senators and House members?
It does make a difference. Sometimes it’s the only thing that moves the needle.
Rs need to worry more about anger from their constituents than about angering TACO Don.
He talks about 3 Republican votes in 2017 related to the Affordable Care Act.
- Grassroots mobilization.
- Call your representatives, even in red states.
- Call hospitals around the country.
- Use every networking option we have.

Selling off America’s Public lands — our National Forests, Grasslands, Bureau of Land Management Rangelands, National Wildlife Refuges, and National Parks– consistently polls extremely badly among pretty much all demographics. The Big, Shitty Bill includes the first camel’s nose in the tent with a proposal to sell some millions of acres of public lands that they pretend are barren and useless. Yeah, tell me the Shasta-Trinity fucking Wilderness is barren and useless, ’cause I looked at the map and it’s on there. Sorry. What I meant to say is, this is probably an issue to push.

I am more than good with calling my MAGAt Congressman and letting him know he’s NOT doing his job.
I’m going to pass on writing postcards, though! North Carolina, ya broke my heart there ;)

@E.:
Yes!
We could collectively figure out all the organizations that have a stake in this, make a list of them and contact info, and we could all go to town.

@E.: The public lands part includes selling land off w no process, no public hearings. And while it calls for selling a single digit million acres, there’s an amendment to sell another 250+ million.
in colorado, most of our public land is used, and used heavily, by the public. We’re hiking, camping, fishing, looking for rocks and setting up mining claims, we’re out birding or making art. Out bring on the land. It’s crowded. In many places I used to camp, it’s so crowded, and fills up faster, well before the weekend. People camp on blm. A lot of dispersed camping has been blocked off w signage, and sometimes bulldozing, with signs that say no camping here. Many favorite spots. It makes the other areas more crowded.
We need this land. The creatures need their habitat, too.

@Gloria DryGarden: Conservative ideology says that government providing something for free when someone could be making money off it is inherently wrong.
I wish I was exaggerating.
