Dear Ed,
He could duplicate the poll 100 times, continue to get similar results, and it doesn’t confirm anything, because the problem is the QUESTIONS ARE BAD. Additionally, the questions don’t even address what you think they address- how does asking people to discern between Palin’s nonsensical gibberish and Tina Fey’s impression of Palin prove media bias? If I bang my thumb with a hammer 100 times, it may hurt every time, but it most certainly doesn’t explain why the sun rises in the east.
Signed,
A Trained Monkey
PS- I would not interview Ziegler if I were you, Ed. He has a potty mouth, and you might get the vapors.

This sounds like an empirical question to me.
Mr. Merle
I don’t see why a monkey, trained or otherwise, cares to educate (rather than simply quarantine and ignore) one of those 26-percenters.

Breaking news from Cap’n Ed: Americans iz ignorant and ill-informed.
Thanks, Ed. Who knew?

So a majority of Fox News and talk radio consumers are well versed in Wing Nut Talking Points? OH wow, what a media conspiracy!

As proof, we have Captain Ed.

No, no, John, you’re missing the point. It doesn’t matter if Ziegler’s survey is worthless. All he has to do is use its existence to convince some media drone that he’s not just some wingnut propagandist (which of course is exactly what he is). The media drone will invite him onto his/her/its cable news show, and Ziegler gets to inject his talking points into the media narrative. If he does that, he wins. The ultimate object is to chivvy the media into thinking it’s been "too easy" on Obama, so they’ll pay extra careful attention when the GOP starts up its smear machine and begins lobbing poo bombs at the president.

I would have flunked the survey simply because I knew the right answers.
For instance: "Which of the four [candidates] said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket?"
Correct answer: None.
As the majority of respondents were middle-aged and older, upper-middle class, and college-educated, I’d guess plenty of ’em were not uninformed, but simply found the questions just as unanswerable as I did. How much you want to bet the typical response was : "Is this a trick question?"

I went and read the piece. Then I read a few of the comments. That was a dumb thing to do; I think I just got a little dumber just reading them.
One creep wants to ban people from voting if they can’t get 3 out of 4 questions on the citizenship test right. The one who really pissed me off, though, was the one who said that only people who pay taxes should have the right to vote. He (she?) didn’t specify, but I feel safe assuming that sales and payroll taxes don’t count. They never do to asshole right-wingers; only income taxes count, since some "lucky ducky"poor people don’t have to pay them. Lucky poor people. Man, I hate having enough money to live comfortably and happily; it makes me bitter to think how much better would my life be if I were poor and had no income taxes to pay…
