Anyone can be an angel!
Angel matching is our term for “internal” matches, where someone offers to match donations – up to a certain amount – that are made through the Balloon Juice ActBlue thermometers.
This is different from our “external” matches, where we ask the organization we are raising funds for to find a donor (or donors) who will match our goal amount when we hit our goal.
Sometimes external matches are combined with internal Angel Matches, in which case, donations from individuals turn into 4x the original amount. Example $100 in the thermometer + $100 from a Balloon Juice Angel = $200, and that is matched by the external match, for a total of $400.
That’s a lot of incentive for people on the blog to donate!
Balloon Juice Angels set the rules of engagement:
- amount they offer as a match
- do they have a preference for a state or a particular organization?
- matching up to a what amount per individual for their Angel match?
- do they want to be anonymous, or may we use their nym?
- do they want to be notified before their match starts?
- can we be flexible with their Angel match? i.e. can we pair it with another angel match if we want to get things moving
Some Balloon Juice Angels are very specific; some say “use it when you need it, where you need it” – either way is fine with us!
