Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

Ah, the different things are different argument.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

I was promised a recession.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

I did not have this on my fuck 2022 bingo card.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

In my day, never was longer.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Ann Romney Snaps at GOP Critics: ‘Stop it. This is Hard.’

This post is in: Kiss My Black Ass, I wish a motherfucker would!

::cue tiny violins::

In audio obtained by The Last Word, Ann Romney loses her shit on an Iowa radio station in response to a question about GOP critics who are calling her husband’s campaign a clusterfuck:

“Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring. This is hard. And, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.”

Oh cry me a river, Miss Ann. It’s hard for you?

Pshaw.

Ann Romney Snaps at GOP Critics: ‘Stop it. This is Hard.’Post + Comments (142)

Donald Trump is really serious about being a Birther, you guys — and it’s not a joke.

Just this morning, RNC chairdouche Reince Preibus got clowned by Chris Matthews for exploiting race to win votes, and for doing and saying nothing in response to Mitt Romney alluding to the long-since debunked claim that President Obama was born in a pod somewhere in Kenya. Priebus called it a joke, and complained that Chris Matthews hates laughter. Matthews pointed out that it’s not a joke and nearly had a glorious aneurysm.

Tweety is right.

Last week, Romney also claimed it was a joke (it wasn’t), while Karl Rove had the chutzpah to complain that Obama “never said thank you” when Mitt Romney acknowledged that President Obama was born in the USA (is he fucking kidding?).

It’s not a joke.

See, here’s the thing: Making comments about the birth certificate issue plays to the racist wing of the GOP, just as the “Obama removed the work requirement from ‘welfare to work,'” line plays to the racist wing of the GOP whose greatest fear is that Negroes are trying to steal all their hard-earned money.

(And just in case you weren’t positive that Mitt Romney plans to race-bait his way into the White House if we let him, Romney told USA Today that he thinks Obama weakened the work requirement in welfare to “shore up his base.” Get it? Zero percent of black people support Mitt Romney because Obama has bought the black vote through handouts. Ni-CLANG!)

Romney and the GOP know exactly what they are doing, and I expect that the race-based attacks are only going to get worse. And as the Morning Joe clip demonstrates, most of the media is perfectly willing to let these attacks continue. Watch as Tom Brokaw, Mika, and Joe Scarborough sit with their collective thumb up their ass, chortling uncomfortably as Chris Matthews tears Priebus a new one — it is embarrassing. Watch as Priebus tries to claim that errrrybody knows that the birth certificate is a non-issue. It was a joke that misfired!

Again, no it wasn’t. It was calculated. The audience practically high-fived Mitt Romney as they cheered the fact that the President has a funny name and lived in funny places. He’s black, you know. OMG.

Nope. It wasn’t a joke. And if you need any further evidence that it’s not a joke, the Orange Supremacist came right out and said so at a shindig in Florida on Sunday night:

“What I think doesn’t matter — he has his views and many other people disagree with him as you know,” Trump said. “…But he did make a joke, and some people thought it might not be a joke. It happens to be an issue that a lot of people believe in … many, many people believe in it so maybe I would have handled it differently, but he’s running for president and I’m with him 100 percent.“

Trump, who has focused on Obama’s birth certificate in the past, said that whether he raises the issue again going forward is an open question.

“Let’s just say this there’s a huge group of people that are not believers in what [Obama] did, what he said and where he came from. We’ll see what happens. Well see what happens over the coming weeks and months.”

Mitt Romney is an Asshole

by Imani Gandy (ABL)|  August 24, 20122:34 pm| 141 Comments

This post is in: Kiss My Black Ass, Post-racial America, Assholes, Romney of the Uncanny Valley

ni-CLANG!

Mitt Romney is such an asshole:

Mitt Romney made a birth certificate joke today, prompting President Obama’s campaign to accuse him of lining up with the so-called “birther” movement.
During an appearance in his native Michigan today, Romney said: “No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate—they know that this was the place we were born and raised.”
Some of President Obama’s most intense critics continue to question whether he was born in the United States, despite his 2011 production of a birth certificate from Honolulu.
Obama’s campaign quickly condemned the comments.

I repeat: Mitt Romney is an asshole.

The people in the media who are excusing his comments as being merely a joke response to Obama’s Seamus shade are also assholes. (I’m looking at you, Jim Acosta.) The Birther conspiracy is a lie. Romney strapping Seamus to the roof of his car isn’t.

The people who were claiming that because Barack Obama is selling mugs with his birth certificate on it, Mitt Romney’s “joke” is no big deal are assholes. (I’m looking at you, Chris Moody.) That is nothing more than “black people can say ‘nigger’ so why can’t I?” argument.

Mitt Romney has pandered to and courted Birthers. (Donald Trump, anyone?) Mitt Romney is currently running dog whistle ads that accuse President Obama of gutting the welfare work requirement, despite the ads having been condemned as false by anyone with two brain cells to rub together.

Boston Globe Demands Apology from Biden Over Chains Comment; Should STFU

by Imani Gandy (ABL)|  August 18, 20127:35 pm| 190 Comments

This post is in: Kiss My Black Ass

Oh, do shut up:

The Boston Globe is calling on Vice President Joe Biden to apologize for telling an audience at a campaign rally, made up largely of African Americans, that Republicans “want to put ya’ll back in chains.”

“[I]magine if Republican Paul Ryan uttered comments like that. Mitt Romney’s pick for vice president would be pilloried for racial insensitivity — and so would Romney,” the Globe’s editorial board wrote in today’s paper. “In the fight for civility and substance over pointless hyperbole, Biden may not be the worst offender. But he’s an offender nonetheless, and he should apologize.”

I did a quick Google search, and I don’t recall the Boston Globe demanding that Mitt Romney apologize for Romney surrogate and Orange Supremacist Donald Trump’s crazy racist birther bullshit.

As such, I am cordially inviting the Boston Globe to shut its fucking pie hole and stop feigning outrage on behalf of black Americans, many of whom don’t give a shit about what Biden said, and care more about the fact that Mitt Romney policies will, metaphorically, put them back in chains. (Not to mention the fact, that in context, his comments made perfect sense.)

And no, I don’t give a shit that the GOP found a Negro to complain about Biden’s language for them. Arthur Davis can jump up his own ass.

I have fucking had it.

Just shut up and let Joe Biden be great.

Joe Biden Said Something About Chains and Slavery and now Andrea Saul Needs Her Smelling Salts

Oh my gawl, you guys, did you hear? Uncle Joe used slavery as a metaphor for what Mitt Romney and Wall Street have planned for us hapless 99 percenters Negroes Latinos immigrants women seniors POCs LGBTers Americans and the Romney campaign is outraged by the slander! Outraged, I say! This is a new low in politics!

TO THE FAINTING COUCH!

The Romney campaign is reacting harshly to Vice President Joe Biden’s accusation that Mitt Romney and Wall Street will put Americans “back in chains.”

“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama Campaign has reached a new low,” press secretary Andrea Saul said in a statement. “The comments made by the Vice President of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”

The Obama campaign isn’t having any of it:

show full post on front page

The Obama campaign is refusing to back away from Vice President Joe Biden’s accusation that Mitt Romney and the GOP will put Americans in “chains” if they are elected.
‘We have no problem with those comments,” said Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”

Pressed on whether President Obama himself agrees with those comments, Cutter said the full context of the remarks was important.

“[Obama] probably agrees with Joe Biden’s sentiments,” Cutter said. “He’s using a metaphor to talk about what’s going to happen.”
~snip~
“I appreciate the faux outrage from the Romney campaign. But if you want to talk about the use of words, then take a look at MR’s stump speech where he basically calls the president ‘un-American,'” Cutter added.

Senior strategist David Axelrod also denounced the controversy, tweeting: “Enough phony outrage from Team Mitt, while they pour millions into ads that blatantly, brazenly lie about POTUS record on welfare to work.”

Yes. What Axelrod and Cutter said.

The Joe Soptic Ad is Gutter Politics, but the Romney Welfare Ad is Business as Usual?

by Imani Gandy (ABL)|  August 9, 20124:17 pm| 31 Comments

This post is in: Election 2012, Kiss My Black Ass, Our Failed Media Experiment

On the pants-crapping currently going on about the Priorities USA ad, I am throwing my hat into BooMan’s ring:

The only thing I’ll say in the ad’s defense is that we take attacks like that all day long from hate radio and Fox News and the rest of the Mighty Right-Wing Wurlitizer, and I don’t see Anderson Cooper getting his knickers in a twist about that too often.

The factual liberties in that ad are actually a bad idea because it makes it a lot easier to make the “both-sides-do it” argument. The inaccuracies are unnecessary. And if you don’t think his story packs enough punch when told straight, find someone else whose story requires less tweaking. The Bain Capital story doesn’t require any embellishment or exaggeration, so we shouldn’t undermine the power of our message with embellishment and exaggeration.

Here is the real story. Regardless of how many people Mitt Romney laid off when he owned Bain Capital, when he was the governor of Massachusetts he thought that no one should die because they didn’t have employer-provided health care. And he did something about it. But he has totally disavowed that philosophy. So, decisions made by Bain Capital cost a man his job and his health care, which ultimately meant that his wife delayed seeing a doctor and didn’t have any insurance when she found out that she was sick with cancer. Romney had a solution for that problem when he was governor, but he has no solution for that problem now.

Precisely.

Also, too:

Donald Trump is embarrassing himself and the Romney campaign again.

by Imani Gandy (ABL)|  August 7, 20124:29 pm| 94 Comments

This post is in: Crazification Factor, Kiss My Black Ass

Donald Trump has never gotten over the fact that President Obama smacked him down at the White House Correspondents Dinner in April 2011, and then the next day, announced that he had shot bin Laden in the face (not personally, obviously.)

The fact that President Obama mocked him so thoroughly, and that the entire country –except for the 27% of idiots who believe that Donald Trump is relevant, and also that Jesus and the dinosaurs were contemporaries — pointed and laughed at him is more than Trump can stand. As such, he has made it his mission in life to prove that the Kenyan-in-Chief is illegitimate. Trump is convinced that Obama was born in a foreign country, but since those Hawaiian bastards won’t just admit it, Trump is focusing on Obama’s school records. Obama must have cheated his way through college and law school, and probably brainwashed the entire student body of Harvard Law into electing him president of the Harvard Law Review. So goeth the syphilitic mind of Donald Trump.

The bottom line is, there is a black guy in the White House who clearly doesn’t belong there, and Donald Trump is going to figure out how to get him out.

How does he plan to do this? With good old-fashioned stupidity. Trump wants Mitt Romney to hold a press conference and offer to release his tax returns if President Obama will release his school records. How does that make sense?

Shut up, that’s how.
