Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Republicans firmly believe having an abortion is a very personal, very private decision between a woman and J.D. Vance.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

When we show up, we win.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

You cannot shame the shameless.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Books are my comfort food!

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Let there be snark.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

One way or another, he’s a liar.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

Sebastian Holsclaw, one of my favorite frequent commenters on a number of sites, finally has broken down and created his own weblog. We are all much better off today than we were a couple of days ago. Check him out, and add him to your links list right away. His first real entry is an indication of why I like reading his remarks.

Laptop Fund

In case you were curious, the Laptop Fund is still mired at $60.25, two books, and an offer to pay me to never blog again. Should you choose ton contribute to this outstanding charity, there are numerous options:

My Amazon Wish List
Amazon Tip Jar- Donate via Credit Card!

And, should you decide you would rather shower in prison than donate anything to the Balloon Juice Laptop Fund, but still might have a little extra cash that you don’t know what to do with, I suggest you check out my favorite charity in the world, Helping Hands Monkeys. They have a worthy project that could use your money.

Bryant Sanity

I have specifically avoided the Kobe Bryant case, and will continue to do so, but I do have to say that Jeralynn Merritt has brought some much needed sanity to the debate in her appearances on MSNBC (Dan Abram’s show- where they have already convicted Kobe) the last two nights.

Thanks A Bunch

While the Balloon Juice Laptop Fund has been an abject failure, I must admit I never expected much to come of it. At any rate, imagine my surprise when UPS showed up with two books from my Amazon wish list purchased by an anonymous donor. The two were:

The Conquerors: Roosevelt, Truman and the Destruction of Hitler’s Germany, 1941-1945 by Michael R. Beschloss and Paris 1919: Six Months That Changed the World by Margaret Olwen Macmillan, Richard Holbrooke.

Perfect timing, too, because the Steelers have a bye this weekend. Books are much cooler than money any day of the week. Also, should anyone ever desire to send books again, by all means send used ones. They are cheaper, and it isn’t like the words wear out or anything.

Thanks a bunch. And remember, it is not too late to help participate in the laptop fund. If you don’t want to do that, you could always donate to my absolute favorite charity in the world, which is Helping Hands Monkeys. Hell, go see what you can do to help Helping Hands Monkeys anyway.

This is not a picture that would inspire a lot of confidence in papal decrees were I a Catholic worshipper. This poor man is just in a pathetic state- do they have to serve until death?
