Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

Giving up is unforgivable.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

You cannot shame the shameless.

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty. ~Thomas Jefferson

Craven Political Opportunism Showing that

Craven Political Opportunism

Showing that they are still the opportunistic hacks under Terry O’Neill that they were under Patricia Ireland, the National Organization for Women has issued about the Lott affair. If you thought it was about racism, you would, um, well, be wrong. Check out this bunch of ridiculousness:

“Lott not only insulted millions of African Americans last week, but he also offended women,” said Gandy. Former presidential candidate Bob Dole offered to introduce Thurmond to singer Britney Spears, with whom he appeared in a commercial for Pepsi, to which Lott added, “Instead of saying, ‘Down boy,’ you just say, ‘Down Strom.’ ”

“The Thurmond birthday celebration sounds like a toast to the ‘good old white boys,'” Gandy said. “Lott clearly yearns for a time before women and people of color crashed the party.”

“The people of the U.S. deserve far better than Trent Lott,” Gandy concluded. “We call on President Bush to repudiate Lott’s remarks insulting African Americans and women and to encourage the selection of a more fitting Senate majority leader.”

I am not making that up. They are actually trying to advance their agenda on the Lott affair. Just file this one under “Why John Cole Does Not Vote For Democrats,” and watch for more nonsense like this in the near future. The Democrats think they have a winner here, and they are going to go after everything with this, regardless of how stupid it looks. This is going to be the Democrats impeachment-like over-reach, and it is going to be funny watching smugness and political opportunism reach new heights.

In other news, the Latino Coalition and La Raza are also calling for Lott’s resignation, stating that Lott was heard to have said at Thurmond’s party that “I can’t eat spicy food, like Mexican, because it gives me heartburn.” Also, the Anti-Defamation League issued a statement for Lott’s removal, noting that Lott’s hair looks like ‘a caricature of an over-sized yarmulke.’ As of yet, no comment from BiGLM groups, Asian advocacy groups, or Greenpeace.

Too Good For His Age

I am embarassed to admit this, because I usually am very against treating young athletes like spectacles, but I watched LeBron James play last night. He IS all that. It is not hype. He is that good. I just hope some scumbag agent doesn’t ruin his life. Maybe someone like Magic Johnson or the other M.J. can step in and provide guidance. He deserves it, and he is goin to need it.

Bye Bye, Cardinal Law

Not too often these days that I wake up and check the NY Times and find good news, but today is a rare exception. Cardinal Bernard F. Law, the Catholich church’s Richard Nixon, has resigned in disgrace. Now, maybe he will free to cooperate with authorities and make things right for the hundreds? of lives he and his compatriots have ruined.

I just hope this does not take any heat off of Lott, that unreconstructed redneck needs to have his ass handed to him as well. You hear me, hillbilly boy? I am not gonna stop carping on you until your pillow-case wearing, cross-burning, cofederate flag waving ass is thrown out of office. Because of your unrepentant racism, we now have opportunistic jackals like Krugman trying to paint the entire party as the inbred, backwards-ass haters that you and your Council of Concerned Citizens have shown themselves to be.

If Lott does not step down, that is it for me and the Republican party. I am only a registered Republican so I can vote in the primaries, and that doesn’t really matter here in WV. Time to just go Independent, which is how I have been voting for 8 years or so anyway. I just refuse to be associated with a party that accepts overt racism (let alone latent) from the leader of the Senate. And the Democrats are no better- they manage to bridge the gap of racism in a manner only Democrats can- they somehow accept white racists like Maxine Waters, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton while still keeping Robert K.K.K. Byrd and Fritz Hollings mollified. Explain that to me…

Lott Must Go, Part 2

He should be fired for no other reason than the fact that he now has me aligned with Hesiod, Josh Marshall, the bankrupt black leadership (including Jesse ‘Hymie’ Jackson and Al ‘Tawana’ Sharpton), and EVERY online left-leaning blog, magazine, and journal. I am afraid to check Common Dreams, because if I agree with them I might have to end it all. But check out this gem in the NY Times. He has said it before:

Trent Lott, the Republican Senate leader who faces mounting criticism for his comment last week that the nation would have been better off had Strom Thurmond been elected president in 1948, expressed a nearly identical sentiment two decades ago.

After a fiery speech by Mr. Thurmond at a campaign rally in Mississippi for Ronald Reagan in November 1980, Mr. Lott, then a congressman, told a crowd in Jackson, “You know, if we had elected this man 30 years ago, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are today.”

That is officially a pattern of disgusting behavior. Goodbye, Mr. Lott. I don’t even give a shit if you have to resign and the Democrat governor of your state appoints a Democrat and it goes back to 50/50 in the Senate. You have done more to damage race relations than 50 Jesse Jacksons. Good Riddance- and hey, don’t worry- David Duke found a job when his political career ended.

Also, speaking of the bankrupt black leadership, check out this little bit of internecine racism directed at Harold Ford from members of the Congressional Black Caucus as reported in Time (link via Sullivan):

“Democrats have to come up with some answers. Voters are tired of hearing us just say no, no, no, no all the time,” Ford declares. “Even when we’re right, they don’t want to hear it.”

The quotation also describes the hostility Ford’s bid to lead House Democrats provoked from backward-looking members of the older generation of black activists and politicians, including some of his colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus. The sheer meanness

The Daily Kos’s Political State

The Daily Kos’s Political State Report:

I will just quote Kos for what he is looking for:

The concept is simple: to have ground-level correspondents covering political events in their neck of the woods. As such, I’m looking for politically astute individuals that can provide the occassional report on political ongoings in their states.

I am looking for writers from across the political spectrum — people who can steer clear of empty rhetoric and focus on the “Inside Baseball” aspect of politics. Ideological diversity is meant to provide diverse interpretations of certain events, not to spur pissing matches between ideological foes. This site is intended to be cerebral, not emotional.

Translation- He is looking for volunteers who will be able to report locally, and he is looking for a diverse group of writers. If you have not visited the Daily Kos yet, you do not understand how convinced I am that this will turn out to be a historic and wildly successful endeavor.

Goodbye, Trent Lott As soon

Goodbye, Trent Lott

As soon as I read Lott’s latest apology, I realized it is just simply time for the man to go. As I have stated below, I am not a huge fan of the man to begin with, but his incessant bumbling and babbling is a source of embarassment and ridicule, and he is nothing more than a political liability. Why did this latest apology annoy me so much? Let’s take a look at the text of it:

“A poor choice of words conveyed to some the impression that I embraced the discarded policies of the past,” Lott, R-Miss., said in a statement. “Nothing could be further from the truth, and I apologize to anyone who was offended by my statement.”

Why does that sound so obnoxious and annoying and EERILY familiar? Let’s see if this rings a bell:

“I want to let you know how much I regret the fact that alleged comments by the German justice minister have given an impression that has offended you.”

That was the non-apology apology issued by Gerhard Schroder after Justice Minister Herta D
