Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

The words do not have to be perfect.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Dead end MAGA boomers crying about Talyor Swift being a Dem is my kind of music. Turn it up.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

I’m just a talker, trying to find a channel!

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

I desperately hope that, yet again, I am wrong.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

Folks,

We’re trying a new feature here, so let’s see how it goes for the next week or so before it’s fully automated.

This post is for Balloon Juicers who are on the road, travelling, etc. and wish to share notes, links, pictures, stories, etc. from their escapades. As the US mainland begins the end of the Earth day as we measure it, many of us rise to read about our friends and their transient locales.

So, please, speak up and share some of your adventures, observations, and sights as you explore, no matter where you are.

Have at ’em, and have a safe day of travels!

Should you have any pictures (tasteful, relevant, etc….) you can email them to [email protected] or just use this nifty link to start an email: Start an Email to send a Picture to Post on Balloon Juice

Lots of Pics Today – mostly because I couldn’t get them into Friday’s post. So – Poco and more, after the fold!

Next, something wow from BillinGlendaleCA

Not sure the commenter – some very pretty deer.

These are rare key deer on Big Pine Key about 25 miles northeast of Key West. They are an endangered species.  They are much smaller than regular deer. They only live on Big Pine. They just wander around the island, in and out of peoples’ yards, eating their gardens and overturning garbage cans. A bit too friendly for their own good

Taken last week

And I have a a host of photos to post for Sunday from Quinnerly but there are so many that I want to just post the best and so need to spend some time doing that later today. They’ll be Sunday, and anything else, next week. I don’t want to ruin Black Thumb – Spring appears to be here, so garden chat is more necessary than ever!

More Poco Pix – after the fold!

Poco sez, "No dogs in purses here in Marble Canyon, AZ."
Poco sez, “No dogs in purses here in Marble Canyon, AZ.”

These might be interesting to some. Monday at the Grand Canyon as a winter storm blew in. The first three were taken less than 30 minutes apart. The first being at the Desert View (Watch Tower) entrance, the second one about 1/2 way between that entrance and Mather Point overlook. The third one was at Mather Point….very unhappy tourists. We barely made it back out the Desert View entrance…the park closed that road 5 cars behind us around 3:30 pm.
Signed,
Poco (and Quinerly)

We Have Poco!
We Have Poco!

Taken in the back of what I call my “Two Bedroom (Ford) Escape with Poco.” (We are over packed and sleeping in the car for 4 nights out of a 6 weeks road trip in two national parks and one state park in Utah). Meet Poco! He was an inner city street dog for at least 2 years. Rescued by Stray Rescue in St. Louis and my companion for almost 3 years. The picture was taken in the overcrowded Grand Canyon Village on Friday. Poco is saying, “Get me the f*ck out of this hell hole.” We had just had an argument over women with dogs in purses and his lack of understanding about guard rails at the Grand Canyon.❤

Submitted by: And, yes…this is that long winded Quinerly chick.

Next, we have something beautiful:

Where it was taken: My house
When: Sunday evening, the 26 of Feb.
Commenter nym: max
Other notes or info about the picture: Thanks to global warming the roses in the basement got to come out early and one of them bloomed. (And to think: a year and month ago at this time, we were having a blizzard with 42 inches of snow in 36 hours.) So here’s the rose of winter, because the rose bushes now go back inside the basement due to the freeze coming this week.

Last for the day is something called Prescott Cactus. I didn’t know the submitter’s nym so I’m not sharing the name in case it’s private. Given the subject, light, and title, we’re most likely looking at either Prescott, AZ or Phoenix, AZ (my money’s on Prescott, pronounced Pres-kitte). I’ve been there a few times as my sister is buried near Prescott so I stop there to get some food, yellow roses for her grave, etc.
