We reached $10,000 for Voces de la Frontera overnight!

We aren’t quite there yet with the Angel match from Mousebumples, and we have a second Balloon Juice angel who has offered to match $250 for Voces de la Frontera!

So for the next $650 in donations in the comments, if you donate up to $50, your contribution is multiplied by 4.

If you donate $10, it turns into $40.  $25 turns into $100.  $50 turns into $200.  And everything in between!

Fine Print: Since we have another BJ angel, the match resets, so even if you donated yesterday you eligible for the Angel match today.

for up to $25,000!On Wisconsin!

Sadly, the fight to control our bodies and make our own decisions has now be on the legislative front, and we need to win every seat we can.

Remember, the relational organizing at Voces de la Frontera in 2020 resulted in a turnout that was more than the margin of victory in Wisconsin, and every penny of these funds will go directly toward the relational organizing efforts at Voces.

Your matched donations will help us keep the House, increase our slim majority in the Senate, and hopefully put more Dems in the Wisconsin statehouse and other elections up and down the ballot.

For this particular match, we will match any amount, and you don’t even have to tell us about it in the comments.  Still, I hope  you’re willing to share your donation in the comments – it’s not bragging – it helps inspire other people to give.

We have one more Balloon Juice Angel to help get us to the $25,000 mark for our Michigan group!

When I wrote to him to say that his Angel Match #7 would be starting today, he wrote back just now with a simple message:

“Wooo, Let’s Do It!”

As I write this, there are no more Balloon Juice Angels waiting in the wings.

Announcing a new Balloon Juice Angel Match – Angel #5 !  For $1,000!

He will match up to $50 from each donor who lists the donation in the comments.

The zoom last night was really great!

A few highlights:

– every $5,000 from us allows them to provide one of these fellowships to members of disenfranchised groups

– they are approaching 10 different groups to let them know about the fellowships

– the plan is for the first three “fellows” to hit the ground running in 2-3 weeks ( 3 fellows @ $5k each )

– as soon as we get to $20k, they will be able to add the fourth

– and of course when we get to $25k, they can add the fifth one ( 5 fellows @ $5k each )

They are not only working to get people to sign the petition, but everyone they come into contact with for the petition can also be registered to vote on the spot using a phone, effective immediately!  If someone has moved, the registration address can be changed on the phone.

The sooner we can raise the money, the sooner the lucky fellowship peeps can get out there and get to work.

Also, you can help with this Michigan effort directly.

Reminder: Two Zooms Tonight (Open Thread)

My little Henry wants me to remind you:

8 pm – The second meeting of the “content creation” people who are part of the Social Media Initiative.

My poor little Henry, he was swimming in the big round dog bed without Tucker, so I put the smaller round dog bed inside that one, but that still didn’t feel right.  He went into the closet room last week and found the flat dog that Tucker loved, but often tried to eat; the one I had put it away so Tucker wouldn’t eat his face off.

Before Henry found Tucker’s flat dog, he would burrow in and snuggle in between the two round beds. Now it’s all about the dog that surely smells like Tucker.  Nothing makes Henry happier than to be what I call a Henry sandwich.

*Looks like we can use an open thread.  I have been so busy this week that I haven’t read anything since On the Road really yesterday.  What did I miss?

This will double as a Michigan Angel match thread.  We have $500 raised on Angel match #3 in the comments, but we are just $18 short of $2,000 more in the thermometer, so we’re going to do something special.

The first 5 next donation of $100 in the comments will be matched for the entire $100.  And we’re going to run Angel match #4 for $400 at the same time, with matches up to $25 for that one.

At $12,500, when we finish angel match #3 with (maybe) the 5 $100 matches, and our angel puts in her $1,000, the thermometer will be at $14,000, so we would  only be $1,000 way from starting the hiring process for the fellows we are funding.  Fingers crossed.

Well, by the time I hit publish Anne Laurie had just published something interesting, so I’ll hold this one for a little bit.

Oh, and one more thing.  We are trying to come up with a great  name for our group (related to the new social media initiative) and a good, fun hashtag for our postings.  I’ll be putting up a dedicated post tomorrow asking for ideas, but you can get a head start overnight, if you want.   You can nominate your ideas using this form, or you can list them in this thread, or you can save your great ideas for the thread tomorrow.

The form asks for your name, but you don’t need to enter a name for this, so you can just enter your nym twice.

You do not need to be participating in the initiative in any other way in order to nominate ideas, so have at it you snarky, witty, clever people.
