According to CBS, since I got an e-mail promising to dramatically increase the length and girth of my penis, “the truth of the e-mails were absolutely irrelevant,” and what matters is that “it’s an issue that people are talking about.”
Will someone please ask Dan Rather why everyone is talking about my penis?
Sorry for the light blogging. I had to take a few days off to cool down, as my rhetoric was getting overheated. I need a week off every several months. Should be back in a couple of days in full force.

(I should note I am just trying to tease Oliver, because while my favorite team is the Steelers, my 2nd favorite team is whoever is beating Dallas or the Cleveland. I was actually rooting or the Skins last night).
So the Steelers won last night, but I have to admit, I have never felt worse about a victory than I did last night.
Is there anything else bad that can happen to the Dolphins? I don’t think Wannstedt is a very good coach, but you have to feel for him. This season just isn’t his fault.
I guess everyone has their knickers in a twist about this NY Times piece.
I am not sure why libs and conservatives are so mad, as all I got out of it was confirmation of my opinion of Wonkette, which is that she is the Anna Kournikova of blogging. Other than a pretty face, there ain’t much there.
BTW- since when did LGF become a ‘conservative’ blog? None of his viewpoints are conservative, unless you define conservative as ‘anything I don’t like.’
Just got my Star Wars Trilogy from Amazon, and I have to say I am impressed.
The colors have been touched and the sound is just amazing. Definitely worth the wait, and Amazon has it at 40% off. Bonus.
While I am sure that Kerry’s frontal assault on Bush and Ayad Allawi moistened the loins of the idiot left, I just want to be on record that it was the most grotesque, obscene, offensive, opportunistic, and disgraceful performance I have ever seen from a politician. Ever.
Senator Kerry- I am now questioning your patriotism and your sanity.
Others comment more cogently than I have or will, as I now view Kerry as a national embarassment.
Could you let Allawi leave the damn country before you called him a liar, John-John? Christ.
I would like to point out that Allawi has also spent more time in a combat zone that Kerry has, so you can keep your Vietnam experiences to yourself, Monsieur Kerry.

“I laid out a plan which will help America protect our troops,” he says. “We need to bring other allies to the table.”
Ok. So you want other nation’s leaders to expend political capital and treasure and send their lads to risk their lives along with theirs.
So why don’t you act like it? Why aren’t you trying to sell the deal?
Because right now you are calling the U.S. Government incompetent and arrogant. You’re arguing that Iraq is sliding into chaos. You argue that thousands of terrorists are slipping across Iraq’s borders and that it’s become “a magnet for terrorism.”
You dispatch your sister to tell Australia that supporting the United States in the war on terror puts them at greater risk than they were before.
You stand with a straight face and tell nations like the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Italy, who have each shed blood for the freedom of Iraq as part of the coalition, that they’re members of “a fraudulent coalition.”
You can’t even be bothered to leave Ohio to speak with Allawi when he comes to the US to say “thank you.” But you don’t hesitate to all but brand this man–who lives in Iraq every day–a liar, and then have the chutzpah, the gall, the arrogance to tell him from afar that he’s out of touch with the reality on the ground.
You tell the world that you want out while you insist that everyone else pile in–even as you tell them it’s a disaster.

The Democratic National Committee, in response, sent out a statement from Nita Martin, a Pennsylvania mother and registered Republican whose two sons have served in Iraq.
Martin said it was the Bush administration who has failed to support the troops.
“Before one of my sons left, he went online to buy himself a helmet that would better protect him than the one which was issued to him by the U.S. military,” she said. “If anybody doesn’t support the troops it’s George W. Bush. He sent my sons to war with no plan. They were ill-prepared and the result is more and more casualties every day.”
Bullshit, bullshit, and more bullshit. Now Oliver, whose experience in the military includes watching Platoon and Saving Private Ryan might swallow that horseshit, but I don’t. No soldier is deployed into a combat zone without a Kevlar helmet. Cripes- no soldier makes it from the replacement center to his basic training unit without being issued a Kevlar.
This is just utter hogwash. I am so sick and tired of know-nothings like Oliver exploiting TOE’s for partisan gain. Not all units are issued the same equipment. When you hear stories of soldiers not being issued body armor, itis because their unit was never slated to have body armor of a specific type, for whatever operational reason. Not because they weresent into a combat zone unprepared.
There are always changes to TOE’s, and there are lag times in between equipment changes and unit wide distribution of new equipment. This is not because our military is underfunded, under-supported, or because our leadership cares. This is a sign that we are constantly testing new equipment and deployingit as fast as possible to theplaces needed most.
Furthermore, different units require deifferent equipment. When you hear people bitching that they didn’t have ‘armored’ HumVees, there is a reason for it- their normal mission did not require that theyhave them. If the mission changes, the military does its best to shift its resources appropriately. This is not a sign of a lack opf preparedness, but rather, versatility. Different jobs require different equipment, otherwise we would just have every god damned soldier in theatre in an M1A2 Abrams tank, because it doesn’t get much safer than that.
Sometimes people should take the old advice that it is ‘better to sit there and let people think you are stupid rather than opening your mouth and proving it.’
