Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Bogus polls are all they’ve got left. Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls a year from now.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

So cool that a Black prosecutor nailed his ass.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Trump’s legal defense is going to be a dumpster fire inside a clown car on a derailing train.

No Justins, No Peace

Biden: Oh no. We’ve upset Big Pharma again.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

with the Kraken taking a plea, the Cheese stands alone.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

The lights are all blinking red.

Nikki Haley, who can’t acknowledge ‘slavery’, is a pathetic shill.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. don’t touch it.”

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

People are weird.

Ten Second Movie Reviews, a service of the Curmudgeon’s Corner:

Planet of the Apes– Time flew by like I was hitting my big toe with a hammer. New Kids on the Block still suck.

Tomb Raider– Less pleasant than showering in prison. Wished I had spent the time necking with my brother.

The Mummy Returns– Made me want to take a coat hanger to someone.

Someone Like You– Chick Flick. Drink heavily before your girlfriend gets there.

I swore I would not

I swore I would not mention the Cornell West thing. All I did was label him an idiot, employing my favorite fallacy, the ad hominem, to instead sum up my argument . This is in part out of contempt, but mostly sheer laziness. Although, I am not sure if it is an ad hominem if someone realy is a bleeding idiot and you correctly identify them as such. When little kids call an apple an apple, we get excited. Is there really much of a difference? Plus, I downloaded about 30 seconds of the streaming nonsense from West and was thrown into convulsions. Fortunately, the web is full of individuals far less lazy than I am, and some are even paid to write nasty things about people. Rod Dreher qualifies on both counts. Check out this morsel, then read the rest for yourself:

From the disc’s opening lines, you know you’re in the presence of something unusually bad, but it takes a minute or two for the full scope of its Shatnerian shlockiness to make itself known. If you’re like me, then by track four, sticky gobbets of schadenfreude will be coming out your nose and dribbling down your chin. And you’re only halfway done!

At least West’s website has more typo’s and misspelled words than the Corner.

Andrew Sullivan has some interesting info about the GOP candidate for governor in Massachussetts. Good news if you ask me. The right needs to get over this damn homosexuality problem. I have long felt that both modern Repubs and Modern Democrats spend too much time intruding in people’s lives. Republicans want in my bedroom to make sure I am not breaking sodomy laws, Democrats want in my bedroom to put those goofy handicapped bars around my toilet and to make sure my bed and desk are OSHA compliant. Both of them need to back off, and if Sullivan says that guy is a good candidate, he has my qualified support (as if a West Virginian has any say in Mass. state politics.).

Safety Nazi Alert:

I was opening my club soda about an hour ago, when I found this helpful warning on the bottle;

Warning! Contents under pressure Cap may blow off causing eye or other serious injury. Point away from face and people, especially while opening.

No instructions were given on how to drink from the bottle while pointing it away from my face, however. Thank you, Canada Dry Legal Department.

Gun Ownership is up, and

Gun Ownership is up, and that is a good thing according to Jeff Jacoby.

I tend to agree, even though I personally do not own any guns, nor do I intend to. I do, however, get irked by a presumptuous government that deems it necessary to tell me what I can and can not own, particularly when gun ownership is pretty clearly permitted in the big document we are forced to read in 4th grade history class but the majority of us seem to forget before 5th grade starts. Furthermore, it seems to me the people who are most dangerous around guns are the people who know the least about them.

Which reminds me, if one more anti-gun zealot brings up the “you are more likely to hurt yourself with a gun than anyone else” to attack the self-defense reasoning for gun ownership, I am gonna have a minor aneurysm. No kidding folks. And guess what. You are less likely to accidentally electrocute yourself in the bathtub with a hair dryer if you do not own a hair dryer (or a bath tub for that matter- which may be plausible for some of the WTO hating crowd). Maybe there is more to their argument than that, but usually the drool and sanctimony gets so thick from these Handgun Control, Inc. fruits that I may miss the rest of their argument.

At any rate, even though I choose not to own one, I say “Lock and load, America!”, and just remember Ted Nugent’s sensible rules for gun safety. For the lazy, I will post them here:

1.) ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.
2.) NEVER POINT A WEAPON AT ANYTHING YOU’RE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.

That wasn’t too hard now, was it?
