Hooters = 1 part white trash, 1 part hot pants, 2 parts annoying customers, 2 parts bad food.
I give it the finger. I hate eating on the road.

I don’t know if anyone listens to Public Radio anymore, as they are so damned biased politically, but I for one am a reasl fan of several programs they do.
My favorite has to be Mountainstage, which is always great. If you have never watched/listened, I would recommend it. Today while driving I listened to a repeat jazz special, with Los Hombres Caliente and Kenny Rankin and many more. Good Stuff.
I kinda like Garrison Keillor and the Prairie Home Companion, even if he is a pretentious jackass politically. I like the skits and the stories, and I like the old timey radio feeling with the sound effects. Radio was my first love as a kid (got my broadcasting license from the FCC at 14), so maybe that explains it.
Car Talk is great, too, as well as Whad’ya Know. The Infinite Mind is fascinating, too. And their jazz programs are cool, and I like that Austrian sounding fellow who plays the classical music in between guttural orations every morning starting at nine. In fact, the only time I listen to anything other than NPR is when they are doing their perverted version of the ‘news,’ and when Rush is on.
In fact, overall, they put out an incredible product that I use a lot. Soooo. Two quick questions/comments:
1.) Why not charge me for this product, or have advertising like every other radio station? I certainly think you have a superior product a great deal of the time, so get some advertisers and quit living on the federal dollar.
2.) Watch how fast the news coverage changes if they are forced to solicit advertisers.
I guess my second comment answered my first.

You can always count on the Ms. Dowd to take a cheap shot at Bush whenever she can. She spent an entire column sniping that Bush works out too much. Check out this gem:
Why does the leader of the free world, a man with limitless opportunities for stimulation, seem to get really jazzed only when he can run his 6:45 miles?
Does it ever occur to Mr. Bush and his aides to vacate the gym and nail down a Middle East policy?
The president was scheduled to deliver a speech on the Middle East to tell us how he would help stop the cycle of violence there. But then, after another bombing in Israel, he postponed it. If he’s supposed to have a plan to stop the killing, why let the killing stop the plan?
Nothing ever forces W. to postpone his daily workout, even when a gunman shot up the White House lawn one morning at 11:30 a.m. while he was on the treadmill, or when the Supreme Court met on the deadlocked presidential election.
She still can not get used to the fact that he is President. What a loser she is, and how can the Times continue to pay her when this is the best she can do?

Aneurysm Material
I don’t recall if I have ever mentioned this before, but I occassionally purchase and play computer games. Some games I have played in the recent past include Civilization III, Unreal Tournament, Baldur’s Gate II, and Railroad Tycoon Platinum. No specific genre, just good games, IMHO.
At any rate, I have been waiting for two years for Never Winter Nights to come out. I rush out, by the game, install it, and the damned thing will not run. Why? Because it does not support 3dFX cards. I check the specs on the box. No mention that it does not work with 3dFX cards. Where do I finally find this out? In the readme.txt file that is installed when you install the game. So, pray tell, why can they include that information on the inside of the product, but they can not include the info on the OUTSIDE OF THE BOX SO YOU CAN MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION?
Jerks.

Well, I survived the birthday, and now I am in Charleston for the week to teach. Staying a Microtel, which is small, but immaculate, and unbelievably cheap (240 bucks for 6 nights).
I had forgotten how much dial up modem technology bites the big one. Bring me my cable modem!!!
