Time for me to start celebrating the birthday with some cocktails. I shall see you all in a day or so.
The Instapundit muses: I recall
I recall a summer, 1995 U.S. News poll (taken during the post-Oklahoma-City antigun hypewave) that said 75% of the American public thinks the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to own a gun, so I suspect that this is probably about right.
Funny how little attention these poll numbers have gotten. If 75% of Americans had thought Ashcroft was wrong on this, do you think it would have gotten more coverage?
Talk about questions that do not need answered.
The results of this poll that he is discussing should surprise no one. Only the vehement safety Nazi’s and the fascists on the far left are in favor of dis-arming all Americans, just as the loony left is in favor of unilateral disarmament. I, for one, have no use for guns in my life whatsoever now that I am no longer in the military. I live ina safe area, I do not hunt, and I just choose not to own any weapons. That is a choice I have made, and I will defend other people’s right to make their own choice as long as I live.
Weird and Awful: Just heard
Weird and Awful:
Just heard that Darryl Kile is dead. I can not find anything on the web yet, but the Cubs game was cancelled. How awful.
UPDATE- ESPN has the announcement and a profile, but that is it.
It is my 32nd birthday
It is my 32nd birthday today, and damned if I am not tempted to have a couple Jane Galt’s.

FIFA should be embarassed: The
The Spain/South Korea match was the most appallingly refereed soccer match I have ever witnessed. Unlike other sports (like say, the NFL- the ‘real’ football), it appears that the officiating gets worse the farther into the playoffs teams advance. I have never seen two goals called back before. The WWF has more shame and less rigged matches. Absolutely disgusting, particularly when you consider that the soccer community has been desperately trying to cultivate interest in the sport in the United States. One thing Americans like and expect is fair play and an even playing ground, as well as sportsmanship. The World Cup has failed on all three accounts.
Attention Ted Turner- This is
Attention Ted Turner- This is Terrorism:
A suicide bomber detonated a powerful explosive this morning on a Jerusalem bus crowded with high school students and adult commuters, killing at least 18 other people, including some teenagers, the police said.
The blast, which blew out the sides of the bus and peeled off its top from front to back, occurred near a high school on the south side of the city, at the Patt Junction. The bus was carrying students and commuters from the city’s outskirts toward its center.
In my mind it is beyond irresponsible, in fact it is morally reprehensible, to demand that Israel stop building a wall or doing ANYTHING they deem necessary to stop these violent disgusting acts.
