Trump’s speech on race will be written by Steven Miller. Here’s hoping that it articulates the Trump doctrine of falling harder than you were pushed.

Obviously, Trump thinks rioting is good for his polling numbers.  I can’t think of any other reason to have Steven Miller write his speech.

The Orange One wants to kill us all but according to true Progressives, Nancy Pelosi and the Dems are the real enemy.
    COVID dead > 110,00

He is going to double down on xenophobia. Announce that he is going to stop people who are traveling and are on long term work visas from reentry.

He is going to announce that his administration is working on getting rid of the OPT for F-1 visa which allows international students to work in the United States after graduation for 1 to 3 years

This is my guess because these rumors have been swirling on immigration twitter for a while now and Santa Monica Goebbels is writing the speech.

After his last chat with Putin, Fat Bastard decided to reduce our NATO presence in Germany by about 30%. This ties in with his ongoing feud with Angela Merkel. His last few months in office will be exceedingly dangerous and will coincide with a second coronavirus wave sweeping through the red states.

I assume that David Duke and Richard Spencer had prior engagements and were unable to assist.  Let’s see, a proper speech on race relations right now would require showing deep empathy(which 45 is utterly incapable of), an “even handed” discussion of conflicting perspectives(impossible for Trump), and some constructive policy proposals(not gonna happen).  So I expect a flaming shitshow.

This was a diary I put on Daily Kos today. I had assumed wiser heads had prevailed and put the kibosh on any speech.

    The President Addresses the Nation.

There was a story floating about yesterday that the White House was considering having the President address the nation about racism and the current protests .

No. Just…no. Hasn’t the country suffered enough?

Ill tell you, anonymous WH advisers, why this would be a disaster either way.

1.Say he has the best, most inspiring speech possible and reads it word for word with no deviation. Problem is he’ll read it in a dead monotone, with a sullen, irritable face. Everything saying that he was dragged, kicking and screaming to do this.

    2. Worse, he decides to stray from the script, throwing his own thoughts into the stew. We all know how that is gonna go.

    So, for everybody’s sake, just…don’t.

UPDATE: After Trump’s little tweet today, accusing that 75 year old man who was injured by Buffalo police of being an antifa plant?  I think we can put to rest the laughable idea that he could be any kind of ‘unifying’ force.

This GA election mess is fuuuuuuuucked up. We’d better get proactive about all aspects of GOP vote suppression, now: get loud, make sure the public knows that purposeful negligence (under-supplying voting machines, poll workers, and provisional ballots) is yet another tool in the GOP election-ratfucking toolbox, and do what we can across the next five months to make sure every American’s vote is going to count.

‘Cause there are going to be a LOT of votes in five months ;)

The expression means that the person accused of being bat shit crazy is acting in a threatening manner that is devoid of all reason and that borders on insanity. In other words, someone who is bat shit crazy so irrationally (and possibly violently as well) that reasonable, sane measures of dealing with the situation at hand are ineffective.

Scientifically speaking, the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum is found in bat guano and when the fungus infects the brain (a possibility, not a given), it leaves the infected person or animal behaving in a psychotic manner.

Until the early 1950s when Histoplasma capsulatum was finally being diagnosed correctly, sufferers were usually misdiagnosed with tuberculosis. Placed on antibacterial antibiotics, the medication worsened the disease. Why? According to medical studies, once the bacteria in the body was killed off, the fungus had nothing to stop it from taking over completely.

I suppose there’s a “nixon comes to China” possibility here. The police units venerate Trump, as do racists and everyone else who really loves authoritarianism. But that would involve completely reversing himself and attacking his own supporters. At best we’re going to get some pablum about Bad Apples or “everyone can improve”.

But the people who are upset and protesting? Trump has no ability to change their thinking. Because he’s spent decades vilifying and attacking them and it’s only gotten worse since he stole the presidency.

No other individual is likely the encapsulate all the loathsomeness of trumps feelings as the man who shares the same disregard for others as Miller. Like he did 2 weeks ago when he announced the insulin stuff.  You know, the smoke and mirrors insulin cost control plan:

Driving the news: A new project through the Affordable Care Act’s Innovation Center will allow these types of plans to receive the 70% discount if they cap monthly insulin costs, starting in 2021.

Yes, but: This only applies to insulin. People with diabetes often have to take other expensive medications, which won’t get lower copays.

    • The model also doesn’t affect the list or net price of any insulin.
    • An out-of-pocket cap means higher premiums for other beneficiaries and taxpayers, which Medicare chief Seema Verma acknowledged.

The big picture: Insulin has been one of the most politically charged medications, as people have died from rationing their insulin due to cost. But the health care industry wouldn’t have endorsed this idea if companies didn’t think there would be some payoff.

This is my shocked, shocked face.

@MisterForkbeard: I like this contrarian play. The scriptwriters are getting predictable (relatively), so give the speech no one expects. He says he’s “evolved” on the issue and wants to work police departments and the black community to find common ground. He launches a task force and appoints someone mildly respectable to lead it. Pledges some token amount to improve community /police relationships. Says he will discontinue sales of surplus military equipment to police departments unlike his predecessors.  And unlike the dems he believes in law and order not chaos that will come from disbanding the police.

It’s a hail mary approach, but that’s kind of where he’s at. Woo back some of the white suburban voters in the swing states. Continue with all the other voter suppression tactics. Launch new round of attack ads on supporting good policing not anarchy. He doesn’t even have to do anything substantial between now and November.

Cats and dogs, sleepin’ together, politics edition: Tom McClintock, California’s answer to Steve King, had an epiphany.

Rep. Tom McClintock is siding with some of Congress’ most outspoken liberals in an effort to overturn the “qualified immunity” that can protect police and other state and local officials from civil lawsuits.

McClintock, a California Republican who has been urging such reforms for years, has joined Democrats and Libertarian Rep. Justin Amash in backing legislation to eliminate qualified immunity.

“Whatever his motive, the killer of George Floyd had 18 complaints for misconduct, and one of his accomplices had six. Why is such misconduct tolerated by big city police departments?” McClintock asked after Floyd, a black man, died while in Minneapolis police custody. Derek Chauvin, the officer who leaned on Floyd’s neck, was named in 18 prior complaints to the Minneapolis Police Department.

“Is it because politically powerful police unions protect the bad apples among them?” McClintock asked. “Is it because the doctrine of qualified immunity shields corrupt officials from accountability for a wide range of crimes?”

His reservation about qualified immunity sounded a lot like the concern of Rep. Ayanna Pressley. The Massachusetts Democrat and member of “The Squad” – four freshmen Democratic liberal women of color under 50 – is a leading sponsor of the effort to end qualified immunity.

“Qualified immunity shields police from accountability, impedes true justice, and undermines the constitutional rights of every person in this country,” Pressley said. “There can be no justice without healing and accountability, and there can be no true accountability with qualified immunity. It’s past time to end qualified immunity, and that’s exactly what this bill does.”

    @Subsole:

I fully expect them to vandalize the White House on their way out.
And that will be the least of it.

I was wondering earlier about the push by the fuhrer to start up the rallies with “full attendance.’  Fetid petri dishes with militant nutjobs refusing masks and distancing – prime infection environment.  And then from each rally, they spread out to their communities.  I’m wondering if mass vengeance on a disloyal nation might be the object – the ultimate vandalization.

This might be going too far but it would be irresponsible not to speculate.

defeating the Soviet shitpile is REQUIRED for our democracy to continue, but be ready for shit we’ve never seen

Even though one could say every single day of Trump’s presidency has been an exercise in recovering from “shit we’ve never seen”, I really do worry that after he loses there will be stuff none of us has even really considered for us to deal with until January.

I guess we all have to pray it’ll stop short of him imposing martial law and declaring himself the Supreme Leader…

His white pride will not permit that. Backing down would be giving us the flinch. Us. The sissy gaysexual book-readin’ multi-culti commulists.

Also, it’s too late anyway. We already watched them brutalize peaceful protestors. We know who they are.

I almost cannot bear to hope, but I think some folks are finally, FINALLY starting to figure out that being white ain’t gonna save them. And a lot of us are getting mighty damn tired of dragging Jefferson Davis’s corpse on our backs.

@MisterForkbeard: No, he cannot. 2 weeks ago he could, but now it could at best be a lie. Everyone knows he’s a scorpion.

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a babbling stream. It’s too treacherous to cross, so the scorpion nicely asks the frog to carry him across on its back. This makes the frog a little suspicious. It asks, “How do I know you won’t sting me?” The scorpion says, “Because if I do, I will die too.” That sound reasoning relaxes the frog’s nerves. So he allows the scorpion to climb aboard and they shove off across the flowing water. They get halfway across the stream and the scorpion stings the frog directly in the middle of his back. The frog feels the onset of the scorpion’s poison and starts to sink. He manages one dying breath: “Why?!” And the scorpion replies: “It’s my nature…“

@Roger Moore: Incomprehensible as it may be to us, I suspect Trump really thinks Miller is simply right about the issue and will be helpful in enlightening the rest of us as to the proper way to view these things.

Well, Miller does have lots of insights to share with us on how to handle the colored problem.

Rick Wilson comments on the prospect of Trump delivering a Miller-written speech on race:

Irony is dead, buried, decomposed, exhumed, reburied, dug up a second time, ground to ashes, and scattered into an active volcano.

Rick, Dude! Don’t hold back now!

You need to let us know how you really feel about Trump and Race in America!

Let it all out right now…   you will be a better man for it~!!!!!!~
