Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Republicans do not trust women.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

The willow is too close to the house.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

Let me file that under fuck it.

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

Need Some Inspiration?

Looking for some inspiration to do something?

frosty sent me a pic of the postcards he’s writing.

Cool postcards!

The cards are from StoneMavenDesigns on Etsy, and frosty bought 1,000 for the next few elections!

And if that’s not enough inspiration, maybe the tweet below will make you mad enough to write a postcard or make a call or talk to a friend or neighbor or family member about the Comey indictment and how un-American it is.

from prostratedragon

So for me, apparently the rules have now changed in just two weeks.

Grijalva: I was looking at the example of now-Representative Walkinshaw from Virginia, who was elected two weeks ago Tuesday. The following Wednesday—less than 24 hours later—he was sworn in, with unofficial results.

So for me, apparently the rules have now changed in just two weeks.

Lie, cheat and steal.  I was tempted to add “that’s all they know”, but no, that’s not true.  I would have to add “destroy” for that to be true.

They are. They also learned the game of how to hold onto power and play it very well, bending the rules until the rules look like a corkscrew. I wish the Democrats had learned the same lessons, but. let’s be honest, the press would have crucified them if they had tried and of this nonsense.

I’m going out on a Registration Repair Canvass here in NC because our now Republican and corrupt (I repeat myself) controlled State Board of Elections is validating the court rejected “concerns” of asshole, loser judge Griffin on supposedly incomplete information in certain voter registration files. So these voters have to “repair” their registrations supplying either their DL#, State ID# or the last 4 numbers of their SS# to be able to vote without issue in the next election. We have local elections going on right now in my county.

      (I haven’t watched the video.)

      KGUN9.com (from yesterday):

      […]

Adelita Grijalva won with more than 68 percent of the vote but she’s not officially a member of Congress until she’s sworn in.

That could be October 7th, the next day the House is back in session. But it could slip to October 14th or later if House Speaker Mike Johnson waits for an official vote certification from Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes.

Waiting could keep Grijalva sidelined—-unable to vote on some issues where one vote could make all the difference.

“I think that maybe it has to do with the fact that I am the 218th signer to push for a vote on the release of the Epstein files. And, you know, I don’t know. So there’s a lot of questions. I plan on going to Washington on Monday with to caucus with other Democrats. Leader Jeffries has asked us to be there, and so I am going, even though I have no official capacity there yet, it is very clear I won this election by nearly 40 points.”

Grijalva says when Virginia Democrat James Walkinshaw won a special election to Congress a few weeks ago he was sworn in without having to wait for the full certification.

When we asked the Speaker’s office what the Speaker will do we got this statement:

“As is standard practice, with the House now having received the appropriate paperwork from the state, the Speaker’s Office intends to schedule a swearing in for the Representative-elect when the House returns to session.”

So what appropriate paperwork are they talking about? The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office says the only thing they sent is a letter to the House Clerk. It says unofficial results show Adelita Grijalva the clear winner. But there are no official results until October 14th.

“Returns to session” could mean October 7th but we need to see that on the House Calendar.

The July 2025 version of the House calendar had them being in session on Monday September 29. I wonder what caused the schedule to change…????

      Grr…

Petty, oh so petty, cowardly, clowns.

At least, since there’s no way they can spin the result as somehow being close, they won’t be able to drag it out for months the way they did with Franken.

      Forward!!

      Best wishes,
      Scott.

Washington Post has Trump announcing troops into Portland, authorizing “full force” if necessary.  The right is just itching to kill people.   Now I’m wondering if the gathering of the military leaders is part of a process of using military troops inUS cities and not just national guard.

Thank you for doing this! Regrettable that it needs to be done… and kudos on the active pushback.

I’m currently updating addresses and active/non-active status for our state Democrats, so that phonebank and canvass lists will have the latest info.

We were doing fights at the city council level this week. 4 out of 5 members are R’s, so 80% of the council.  The town is about 50/50 and the R’s pay no attention to what we want. The lone D tries her best to point out the hypocrisy but to no avail. The R’s set their own re-election schedule and extended their own terms. They were sued and lost, and now they are doing it again. Most of the speakers are D’s, they pay no attention. We gave them hell about “honoring Charlie Kirk.” The answer was “we were told to by the president.” Bullshit. You didn’t have to, and you are not listening to your constituents.

I had a very inspiring morning with my friend Anne – we canvassed some of the 60,000 NC voters who were shifted from “Active status” to “Inactive status” by the GOP State Board of Elections for not having their driver’s license# or SS# on their registration form (even if that info was not legally required at the time of their registration).   People were happy to see us, happy to get the information about how to update their registrations, and for the unaffiliated voters, maybe it makes them less likely to vote Republican and more likely to vote Democratic since we were there providing a service to them.

Felt good to be doing something

Then Thursday they showed up on gunboats, with weapons, on the Chicago River, right downtown along the river-walk.  A pretty high-end area to be patrolling.

I assume that last bit is for another cosplay propaganda video

Eta: almost forgot… in Elgin they did an early morning raid, complete with helicopters and blowing the door open. They got 4 guys sleeping. That door blowing open showed up in the propaganda

If we win a Democratic House in 2026 I fully expect there to be a full-court press to keep them from being seated, possibly including finding reasons to arrest them (expect Bill Pulte to find a lot of “mortgage fraud”). Winning the election is step 1 but it won’t end there.

@zhena gogolia:  The military thing in Chicago fizzled out, but ICE is certainly plaguing us, even to patrol boats on the downtown branch of the Chicago River; kind of silly-looking if you ask me. They’ve set up a detention center in Broadview, a close-in suburb, where there are daily demonstrations. The goons are just itching to use real ammo, but so far only rubber, often shot by snipers from the roof. Just like the kid who shot up the parade a few years back.
