Looking for some inspiration to do something?
frosty sent me a pic of the postcards he’s writing.
Cool postcards!
The cards are from StoneMavenDesigns on Etsy, and frosty bought 1,000 for the next few elections!
And if that’s not enough inspiration, maybe the tweet below will make you mad enough to write a postcard or make a call or talk to a friend or neighbor or family member about the Comey indictment and how un-American it is.

So for me, apparently the rules have now changed in just two weeks.
Grijalva: I was looking at the example of now-Representative Walkinshaw from Virginia, who was elected two weeks ago Tuesday. The following Wednesday—less than 24 hours later—he was sworn in, with unofficial results.
So for me, apparently the rules have now changed in just two weeks.
Lie, cheat and steal. I was tempted to add “that’s all they know”, but no, that’s not true. I would have to add “destroy” for that to be true.

Via Reddit, inspiration.
WaterGirl
I forgot to add this up top.
Fucking hypocrites! They are shameless.
WaterGirl
Okay, maybe no one cares about inspiration. Noted!

This makes me cry. They fought for the country that would not fight for them.

@WaterGirl:
They are. They also learned the game of how to hold onto power and play it very well, bending the rules until the rules look like a corkscrew. I wish the Democrats had learned the same lessons, but. let’s be honest, the press would have crucified them if they had tried and of this nonsense.
Another Scott
Yay frosty! Yay Watergirl!
Inspiration is good.
Thanks.
Best wishes,
Scott.

Predawn hours (here) not amenable to inspiration. Respiration is about all that can be handled.

Glad for the tip on the postcards. A little art makes the postcard more friendly,.

I’m going out on a Registration Repair Canvass here in NC because our now Republican and corrupt (I repeat myself) controlled State Board of Elections is validating the court rejected “concerns” of asshole, loser judge Griffin on supposedly incomplete information in certain voter registration files. So these voters have to “repair” their registrations supplying either their DL#, State ID# or the last 4 numbers of their SS# to be able to vote without issue in the next election. We have local elections going on right now in my county.

Need more inspiration?

(I haven’t watched the video.)
KGUN9.com (from yesterday):
The July 2025 version of the House calendar had them being in session on Monday September 29. I wonder what caused the schedule to change…????
Grr…
Petty, oh so petty, cowardly, clowns.
At least, since there’s no way they can spin the result as somehow being close, they won’t be able to drag it out for months the way they did with Franken.
Forward!!
Best wishes,
Scott.
MagdaInBlack
well, I just got up (for the second time) and inspiration is always good, so thank you =-)

Washington Post has Trump announcing troops into Portland, authorizing “full force” if necessary. The right is just itching to kill people. Now I’m wondering if the gathering of the military leaders is part of a process of using military troops inUS cities and not just national guard.
H.E.Wolf
@WaterGirl: Oh, I’m inspired! Very much so. However, I’m late to the party because on Saturdays we do the weekly grocery shopping and then go for an hour’s walk. :)
Swanning in now, to say thank you to frosty and Hungry Joe for the postcards, congratulations to US Rep-elect Grijalva, and RIP to George Hardy. Inspirations, all!
H.E.Wolf
Thank you for doing this! Regrettable that it needs to be done… and kudos on the active pushback.
I’m currently updating addresses and active/non-active status for our state Democrats, so that phonebank and canvass lists will have the latest info.
The phonebankers tend to be high school students, retirees, and union members, and I want all 3 groups to have a good experience!
dc
@H.E.Wolf: I’m so pleased to hear that high schoolers are phone banking. Bravo! And thank you for doing all the back end work, canvassers depend on the data folks.

@WaterGirl:
I need it. Thank you Watergirl.

@Hungry Joe: Nice!
Also way to go Frosty!
Started on my 200 postcards reminding folks to vote in the Nov 4th NJ elections.

@Another Scott: I thought they were back October first, but if not we’re pretty much guaranteed at least a week of government shutdown.
WaterGirl
@Raoul Paste: I think an interesting postcard gets a second look, and one with art might even go on the fridge.

What ever happened to the invasion of Chicago? As far as I have heard, it hasn’t happened.
Almost Retired
@Hungry Joe: Excellent! I’m doing some Yes on Prop 50 postcards as well, although the state of my handwriting is such that I’m likely to confuse as many voters as I inspire (“someone wants me to vault over 50 prepositions?!? This postcard makes no sense”). Gotta block print, that’s all.
FastEdD
We were doing fights at the city council level this week. 4 out of 5 members are R’s, so 80% of the council. The town is about 50/50 and the R’s pay no attention to what we want. The lone D tries her best to point out the hypocrisy but to no avail. The R’s set their own re-election schedule and extended their own terms. They were sued and lost, and now they are doing it again. Most of the speakers are D’s, they pay no attention. We gave them hell about “honoring Charlie Kirk.” The answer was “we were told to by the president.” Bullshit. You didn’t have to, and you are not listening to your constituents.

@zhena gogolia:
They are coming to Memphis.

@zhena gogolia: I hope the governor of Oregon and the mayor get out in front of this the way Chicago and Illinois have.

Lou Holtz is still alive????
AM in NC
I had a very inspiring morning with my friend Anne – we canvassed some of the 60,000 NC voters who were shifted from “Active status” to “Inactive status” by the GOP State Board of Elections for not having their driver’s license# or SS# on their registration form (even if that info was not legally required at the time of their registration). People were happy to see us, happy to get the information about how to update their registrations, and for the unaffiliated voters, maybe it makes them less likely to vote Republican and more likely to vote Democratic since we were there providing a service to them.
Felt good to be doing something
ETA – Awesome to see that commenter dc was also out doing this work today!!!!!!

@AM in NC:
Awesome.

@zhena gogolia: The ICE occupation of Chicago is still going on but they altered their tactics to be less visible to the press.
Here’s some of the current activity.
bsky.app/profile/kevinlikesmaps.bsky.social/post/3lztfouwods27
ETA the National Guard threat has moved on, but ICE is still arresting people.
MagdaInBlack
@zhena gogolia: Well, they killed a guy in Franklin Park, near west suburb, and they’re using teargas at the Broadview Ice facility, where they’ve also been tossing protesters around like ragdolls.
Then Thursday they showed up on gunboats, with weapons, on the Chicago River, right downtown along the river-walk. A pretty high-end area to be patrolling.
I assume that last bit is for another cosplay propaganda video
Eta: almost forgot… in Elgin they did an early morning raid, complete with helicopters and blowing the door open. They got 4 guys sleeping. That door blowing open showed up in the propaganda
@JaySinWa: Thank you
zhena gogolia
@eclare: I’m sorry. It’s all so depressing.
WaterGirl
@zhena gogolia: Oh, no, it’s happening with ICE. I have had some posts up about it.
Gov. Pritzker is working hard to keep things Chicago residents calm and steady, even in the face of the ICE awfulness. That’s my take anyway. I don’t think they sent in the National Guard. Not yet, anyway.
MagdaInBlack
@WaterGirl: Hes is an inspiration isn’t he? =-)
WaterGirl
@MagdaInBlack: Yes, Pritzker is definitely an inspiration.

Watching LeVar Burton as a heroic small-town librarian on Leverage: Redemption. He and his character are inspiring!

Those are great postcards!

If we win a Democratic House in 2026 I fully expect there to be a full-court press to keep them from being seated, possibly including finding reasons to arrest them (expect Bill Pulte to find a lot of “mortgage fraud”). Winning the election is step 1 but it won’t end there.
sab
@Baud: He would have been just 18 when he enlisted.
prostratedragon
@zhena gogolia: The military thing in Chicago fizzled out, but ICE is certainly plaguing us, even to patrol boats on the downtown branch of the Chicago River; kind of silly-looking if you ask me. They’ve set up a detention center in Broadview, a close-in suburb, where there are daily demonstrations. The goons are just itching to use real ammo, but so far only rubber, often shot by snipers from the roof. Just like the kid who shot up the parade a few years back.
dc
@AM in NC:
Just got back. Went with two others, and a good thing we did it that way. One of us drove and filled out the flyers (name, address, etc.), the other two of us traded off getting out of the car at the address. Only twice did we have two addresses close enough that we could go to both houses at the same time.
Thank you for getting out there too!
WaterGirl
@dc: @AM in NC: You are both an inspiration to me!
