Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

“Alexa, change the president.”

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

IN MLB, if a pitcher throws the ball, it hits the ground and then hits the batter, what is this?

Does the batter get a base? Is it a wild pitch?

    Hit by pitch.

If it hits the ground & the batter hits the ball after it bounces, it’s in play (if it’s fair, of course). Until the umpire calls it a “ball” or a “strike”, it’s a live pitch.

Of course, they’d always take the “ball” & wait for a pitch to hit.

Here’s one for YOU (I know the answer). You’re team’s down one & there’s one second on the clock & you’ve just gotten the rebound from the opposing team’s missed shot. You hurl the ball all the way down the other end of the court, towards your basket. The horn blows, signaling the end of the game. The heave falls well short, hitting the court around the free-throw line. However, it bounces up & miraculously goes in.

    Does the basket count?

I say no, because it hit the ground after the horn.

    MLB Rule 6.08
The batter becomes a runner and is entitled to first base without liability to be put out (provided he advances to and touches first base) when_ (a) Four “balls” have been called by the umpire; A batter who is entitled to first base because of a base on balls must go to first base and touch the base before other base runners are forced to advance. This applies when bases are full and applies when a substitute runner is put into the game. If, in advancing, the base runner thinks there is a play and he slides past the base before or after touching it he may be put out by the fielder tagging him. If he fails to touch the base to which he is entitled and attempts to advance beyond that base he may be put out by tagging him or the base he missed. (b) He is touched by a pitched ball which he is not attempting to hit unless (1) The ball is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, or (2) The batter makes no attempt to avoid being touched by the ball; If the ball is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, it shall be called a strike, whether or not the batter tries to avoid the ball. If the ball is outside the strike zone when it touches the batter, it shall be called a ball if he makes no attempt to avoid being touched.
