Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

That meeting sounds like a shotgun wedding between a shitshow and a clusterfuck.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

I really should read my own blog.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

This fight is for everything.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Finally- consensus opinion:

I think we’re all in agreeance that the world didn’t need a Limp Bizkit cover of the Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes.”

That’ll teach me to turn on the local rock station.

So you’ve been spared Kid Rock’s version of “Feel Like Making Love” or the awful remake of an awful song “Drift Away” or whatever the title of Dobie Gray’s song is?

What about the heartwrenching remake of Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown” last year?

Heaven help me, I am old enough to remember and appreciate the songs those damn kids are corrupting–and they’re playing too loud!

This just makes me feel that much more smug and superior for never tuning in to local radio.

I have a hunch that if I heard anyone mangle Behind Blue Eyes as badly as I’m imagining Limp Bizkit did, I’d have to hunt them down and do something awful to them. The original neither wanted nor needed any other interpretations.

Maybe it’s just me, but the last thing I want to hear is band try to sound EXACTLY like the original. If you’re not going to add your own touch to it, why bother doing it at all?

Frankly, while I think Limp Bizkit sucks in a BIG way, I have no problem with them covering a great tune by a great band like Bad Company. I haven’t heard it, and maybe it sounds as bad as Winger’s version of Jimi’s “Purple Haze”, but the fact they’ve chosen to do it at all is a tribute to the greatness of the original.

A lot of new bands tend to forget those who opened doors for them in the past, and a tribute to them, in one’s own style, is appropriate on occasion.

I think he’s talking about a great tune by The Who. Just a guess.

    sorry…

Got my thoughts crossed between the Limp Bizkit cover and Kid Rock’s attempt at a great Bad Co. song, which was referenced in the first comment.

Still haven’t heard Limp Bizkit’s version, and don’t really want to. They suck badly, but I think their attempt at a Who tune is at least a nice tribute.

A good cover doesn’t necessarily improve the original (a rule which doesn’t apply for many Dylan covers), but rather offers a fresh look at the material.
