Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

Everybody saw this coming.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

This is dead girl, live boy, a goat, two wetsuits and a dildo territory.  oh, and pink furry handcuffs.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Books are my comfort food!

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

Find someone who loves you the way trump and maga love traitors.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Finding joy where we can, and muddling through where we can’t.

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

Did the rain and strong wind dampen the enthusiasm for the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade (29:27 min) down 5th Avenue? Maybe for some normal people, but not for me, an admitted and proud paradeaholic.

The parade started with one of the mounted NYPD officers complimenting my camera (?)*, followed by the cutie-pie Irish Wolfhounds, the NYPD and the always impressive FDNY Pipes & Drums, and a ton of marchers and marching bands. I particularly liked the County Donegal Buíon Cheoil Sinsear Chloich Cheann Fhaola band. I mean, a marching band with a xylophone and some odd wooden boxes on the drums, what is not to like?

Bottom line, in any kind of weather, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade always delights.

*I was a bit surprised by the compliment because the parade route is dotted with professional photographers, with at least 3-4 cameras on them with gigantic lenses, like this lady (17s).

My camera, while functional – it’s a camera and gimbal combo – could never be confused with a professional one. (For more details, please get my email from WaterGirl. While the camera does its job, getting one is convoluted and has some risk so I don’t want to give it an unqualified endorsement.)

No parade is complete without a nosy marcher inspecting your camera.

The last closeup of the dog is the best.

That looks like so much fun!  I’d be a paradeaholic, too.

Delightful! Love the curious dog. (Dogs always seem to think their best side is their nose.)

I thought bagpipes were carried by Scottsmen, not Irishmen. And kilts? Isn’t that .  . . .

@Mike in Pasadena: Maybe this quote will help:

“The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. It is essential to keep these distinctions clearly in mind (and verce visa).”

What’s the deal with that building that looks like a giant steamer trunk? I think it’s Louis Vuitton, and I located some other photos that show that it’s actually a huge pile of giant steamer trunks.

It’s a temporary facade over construction of a tower on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th street.
