Worldcom is going to be a mess, and I expect Democrats to attempt to smear Republicans with this ‘big business’ tie like they attempted to do so with Enron. According to Opensecrets.org, the donations are as follows:
Since 1/31/01:
The National Republican Congressional Committee has received $ 15,700.00.
The Republican National State Election Committee has received $ 45,000.00.
The 2001 Presidential dinner fund received $ 100,000.00.
The Democratic National Committee received $ 50,000.00
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee received $ 50, 250.00
Pretty even, except the 100k donation to the dinner- not sure what that money is used for- perhaps a more sophisticated reader will have that info. I am still willing to bet that Senate Democrats will be the most vocal.
