Awesome. Whoever suggested Kerem for breakfast wins a point. About dinner, I will probably never find a place that half of you think is either (a) on a downhill slide, (b) overrated, or (c) nowhere near as awesome as some even more obscure place right next door, but a credible appeal was made for Meskerem around 18th and Columbia and for 8 rather than 7:30. As before, email if you think you can make it.

    I can’t believe this. I thought I’d seen every betrayal known to man since January 20, 2009. I thought I’d been disrespected, kicked in the teeth, taken for granted and thrown under the bus in every way a loyal Democrat could be.

    I think Meskerem is overrated. ;-) But even overrated Ethiopian places in the DC area are pretty damn good, and I can’t join you anyway, so you don’t need to consider my opinion. It’ll be yummy; enjoy!

    Monmartre near Eastern Market – 327 7th St SE – and they also run a great sandwich/pizza shop next door called 7th Hill Pizza.

    Also… Bistro Cacao at 320 Massachusets Ave NE.

    Meskerem is good. There used to be a place directly across the street called Fasika’s that was arguably better, but it closed. I think it had a fire.

    Meskerem is fine. We ate there a few weeks ago after an event at the art center. My conclusion was that it was a fine place to go to if you were trying to get out of the rain, as we were, but if you were coming from elsewhere you’d be better off at Etete.

    That said, I think Meskerem has more seating so if you want to not wait around or need to accommodate a larger group it’s probably the way to go.
