Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

You know he’s going to shit a cat.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

“They all knew.”

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Bark louder, little dog.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

I swear I will be back in action tomorrow. You have no idea how much getting sick back then got me behind, and I am finally getting caught up. I have a design meeting on Wednesday, and then I should be done with work for the rest of Spring Break.

Yeah…it’s just not the same. A bunch of other regulars seem to be AWOL as well. I think they’re waiting for your return. (Either that, or those regulars that are missing are actually your creations. Worth pondering…)

Well with St. Patrick’s Day this Friday, I thought I should welcome you back with the following heady brew.

According to the latest USA Today/CNN Gallup Poll, not only has Georgie’s approval number shrunk to a truly remarkable 36%, but it would also appear that the American voting public will be voting for Democrats this fall by the crisp rate of 55% to 39%.

My my my. Spring is in the air.

Too late. We started another 24×7 blog on Cindy Sheehan over a week ago. Darrell collapsed after 5000 posts on one thread and one of DougJ’s personalities and Pb have been at his bedside live blogging since Friday.

ppGaz and scs have wed and are the new Carville/Matalin replacements on MTP.

When I think I can’t be further surprised at Republican lunacy, along comes yet another example.

Why do blacks continue to support Democrats?
    By Adele Fergusen

One of these days before I die, I hope to see a shift in the attitudes of so many of my black brothers and sisters in this great country we share, from perpetual victimhood, to pride in their achievements on the road from slave to American citizen.

Remember Ronald Reagan’s story about the kid who had to shovel a huge pile of manure? He went about it with such joy he was asked why and said, “With all that manure, there’s got to be a pony in there somewhere.”

The pony hidden in slavery is the fact that it was the ticket to America for black people. I have long urged blacks to consider their presence here as the work of God, who wanted to bring them to this raw, new country and used slavery to achieve it. A harsh life, to be sure, but many immigrants suffered hardships and indignations as indentured servants. Their descendants rose above it. You don’t hear them bemoaning their forebears’ life the way some blacks can’t rise above the fact theirs were slaves.

And some of you wonder why I’d sooner eat glass than vote for a Republican.

    I am the real DougJ!

And you go into blogging with the host you have, not the host you would want to have.

Then again, I can’t think of a much better host that exists than John. (/channel Spectre)

    Richard Bottoms…

I think that could be shortened, to… “We never hear about the good things Slavery did for blacks.”
