Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

You cannot shame the shameless.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. keep building.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

Bark louder, little dog.

No one could have predicted…

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

    Sayeth the Red Stater:

My Gosh, what has the world come to when we have to look to Harry Reid as someone who is not only right on principle but a voice for common sense.

That would be a world where most Republicans have abandoned common sense and principles in favor of using 9/11 as a cudgel.

George Bush and his AG are uniquely qualified to clean up corruption in Congress.

Leave it to the Republicans to yank the Dims nuts out of the fire by clouding a simple case of congressional bribery by turning it into a case of separartion of powers. Idiots.

Well, Harry Reid is the voice of reason in the Senate. He restores my faith in politics.

Usually that’s a job for the Democrats.

That had to be a tough pill for them to swallow. It made for a fun read.

I am not going to make any judgements about right or wrong here since I do not know constitutional law.

Yeah, even the stupidest damned collection of morons to inhabit the planet can be right once in a while.

But don’t worry, Red State has another thread debunking global warming based on evidence from corporate think tanks.

The comments thread there takes an interesting turn. It’s postulated that the Republicans are protesting in a naive but honest way (being such unaccomplished opportunists), whereas Harry Reid is showing himself for the cold, calculating, nihilistic thief that he is… with his press statement. Is that commenter a spoof? I can’t decide. Does anyone here have anything to say for themselves? ;)

I was especially entertained by the comments explaining that the reason why a disproportionate number of Republicans were getting busted was because the Dems were just so much better at stealing and not getting caught. I love it!

This just in, the embattled congressman, Jefferson, he has ‘declined’ Pelosi’s plea for him to step down from his committee post, even with all the evidence regarding his corrupt practices while in office. Selfish bastard. By refusing to symbolically fall on his sword, he prevents the Democrats from presenting their party as potential reformers this election cycle. The rightwingnuts can keep spouting the distortion that corruption is ‘bipartisan’ rather than wholly Republican (when in truth the corruption is severely tilted to the right: with Jefferson in the mix, it’s like 100 Republicans per 1 Democrat).
If I were Pelosi, I’d just kick him out of the party, right now. He ain’t worth it.

The way things are now with all the Bush screwups, we’re up to 12 Signs of the Apocalypse, 19 broken Seals, and 193 Whores of Babylon hanging out with Foggo at the Watergate. Sheesh.

    How fucking heartwarming.

Finally some bipartisanship. Hastert and Pelosi come together for the righteous cause of protecting your constitutional right to stuff bribe money in your freezer without the risk of pesky FBI agents coming to search your office. I think I’m gonna cry.

Pelosi has the power to yank his committee asignments. Schumer has the power to yank his party support. Every other Dem has the power to give him a swift kick in the ass. It’s past time they do it.
