Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

In after Baud. Damn.

How stupid are these people?

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

I Didn’t Know This,

but Kevin Holtsberry of Ideas, Etc., has a football blog named Pigskin. Kevin is a loyal Steelers fan (I am a maniacal Steelers fan- I stopped dating a girl when I found out her parents were Browns fans, and I cross the street if I see people wearing Cowboys paraphenalia so I don’t spit on them), so go check it out.

Also a must is Stillers.com.

Hiccup!

Vodkbgsapundet eesh beeck!

Not only is Herr Schnapps back and in fine form, he has a trenchant analysis of the Palestinian leadership. Sayeth Mr. Green:

New Hampshire Congressman John Sununu is the only ethnic Palestinian serving in the House. . .

Which means Washington has more freely-elected Palestinian representatives than Palestine does.

Exactly.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein

That is right, the NY Times thinks the spendthrifts and noodleheads on Capital Hill, you know the ones- they have sent you approximately 4 balanced budgets in 30 + years, are just the right group of folks with a grasp of common sense to ‘reign in’ the out of control Army Corps of Engineers.

Tomorrow on the Op-Ed page, Hillary Clinton and Robert Byrd will present fiscal overhauls for the Post Office and Amtrak.

Islam, the Peaceful Religion, part 98573833

An Islamic high court in northern Nigeria rejected an appeal today from a single mother sentenced to be stoned to death for having had sex out of wedlock.

The woman’s lawyers said they planned to file an appeal to a yet higher Islamic court. If that failed, they could appeal to the Supreme Court, where the case would force a showdown between Nigeria’s constitutional and religious authorities.

Animals. These people are human in anatomy only- although their frontal lobes may be noticeably absent. And before you start that ‘not everyone who practices Islam is like this” crap with me, you get every jackhole who works for CAIR and the other Muslim apologia apparatchiks out there to start raising hell about this. Don’t count on it- they are too busy telling us how racist we are because some Americans just might think it is a good idea to look twice at young, bearded, Arab Muslim men from Saudi Arabia on one way plane trips.

Most spectators in court on Monday welcomed the ruling.

“This is a triumph of Allah’s law against the enemies of Shariah,” said Muhammad Radiu, 26, an Islamic studies student. “By this judgment, we are confident the government is serious about the implementation of Shariah.”

I see your Allah and raise you one Hitler, you despicable waste of flesh.

The Gang that Couldn’t Shoot Straight

The National Education Association is suggesting to teachers that they be careful on the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks not to “suggest any group is responsible” for the terrorist hijackings that killed more than 3,000 people.

Suggested lesson plans compiled by the NEA recommend that teachers “address the issue of blame factually,” noting: “Blaming is especially difficult in terrorist situations because someone is at fault. In this country, we still believe that all people are innocent until solid, reliable evidence from our legal authorities proves otherwise.”

But another of the suggested NEA lesson plans
