I guess the polls have shifted again, and they now reflect a dead heat. This is the first time I am inclined to believe the polls in the past few months- I think anyone who really thought Bush had a 14 pt lead needed their head examined.
At any rate, as I did not watch the first debate (I had intended to read the transcript and then lost interest), I find myself struglling to find things to write about. As far as I am concerned, this election is over. There simply is nothing Kerry can say that will make me vote for him, as much as I dislike many of the things the ‘conservatives’ currently charge have done.

In the Democrat controlled East coast:
This is Crossroads South Middle School in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey. On Thursday, there was a back-to-school night for parents of students. Veteran English teacher Shiba Pillai-Diaz says she was shocked when three parents confronted her. The three, insisting the teacher either add John Kerry’s photo to the montage of presidents or remove the Bush photo. When Pillai-Diaz refused, she says the school’s vice-principal threatened her job which is an act that has parents here fuming.
Pillai-Diaz ultimately removed the entire bulletin board and says School Principal Jim Warfel told her she disrupted the school with her “inflammatory politics”. She says he then ordered her out of the building. While she says she is a Bush supporter in her personal life, Pillai-Diaz says she keeps politics out of the classroom.
Shiba Pillai-Diaz, Teacher: “There was no political intent, nor was there any political content in that photograph nor on the bulletin board.”
Unhinged.
I am so glad this election is going to be over soon.

I guess all the unrealistic National Championship talk about my beloved Mountaineers can stop, after they dropped to Va. Tech today by a score of 19-13.
Could be worse, I guess. I could be a Cubs fan. What a collapse.

Matt Yglesias agrees to be cautiously optimistic about Afghanistan once the caveat that anything good that happened has nothing to do with the current administration.

According to CBS, since I got an e-mail promising to dramatically increase the length and girth of my penis, “the truth of the e-mails were absolutely irrelevant,” and what matters is that “it’s an issue that people are talking about.”
Will someone please ask Dan Rather why everyone is talking about my penis?

Sorry for the light blogging. I had to take a few days off to cool down, as my rhetoric was getting overheated. I need a week off every several months. Should be back in a couple of days in full force.
Before I leave, let me point you to this Oliver post:
Why? Why? Why? Beat Dallas into a bloody pulp. That’s all I ask. Why do you forsake me? Why?
Why can’t the Redskins beat Dallas?
Because Karl Rove is a Cowboys fan.
(I should note I am just trying to tease Oliver, because while my favorite team is the Steelers, my 2nd favorite team is whoever is beating Dallas or the Cleveland. I was actually rooting or the Skins last night).
