Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Fucking consultants! (of the political variety)

Their freedom requires your slavery.

“Alexa, change the president.”

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

Bark louder, little dog.

Wait, what?

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Books are my comfort food!

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Decision time: keep arguing about the last election, or try to win the next one?

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Olympics

by John Cole|  August 14, 200410:05 am| 11 Comments

This post is in: Sports

Sat down to watch the HD broadcast of the Olymis, and true to form, Adelphia’s coverage died. It first started to pixelate, and then the screen just went blank.

Fabulous. Adelphia keeps telling me to leave them and get Voom! or Directv!, but I just don’t seem to be able to take the hint. Adelphia’s latest insult to customers is to get rid of the phones at the local office. If you want to talk to someone at Adelphia, you must call an 800 number, and fill out a complaint/work request. Then, they will dispatch a worker to come to my house in two weeks. Of course, you can see how useful that is in my case. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with my equipment or connection, but with the broadcast. IN two weeks, some clueless worker will come check out all my eq, which I know is ok.

End result, I hate Adelphia.

In other Olympics news, Kevin writes:

Alternatively, of course, you could be like Max Boot and decide the Olympics are no fun because it’s not us vs. the commies anymore. Those neocons really miss the Cold War, don’t they?

Max is right, Kevin. Go watch Miracle.

Showing Their Hand

by John Cole|  August 13, 20047:58 pm| 27 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

Forget the Democrats trying to blur the line about free trade, saying what they really want is fair trade. Is there any clearer example of Democratic hostility to the notion of free and open trade than lame attempts at partisan gain over the origin of political campaign materials?

Someone’s Getting Fired

Amateurs:

Bush Wisconsin Campaign Material Made Overseas. Shirts, hats and other merchandise bearing the Bush-Cheney logo being sold in Wisconsin was produced overseas.

Goss Is The Man

More proof that Porter Gossis the right man for the CIA:

Former Vice President Al Gore charged Thursday that President Bush’s nomination of Republican Rep. Porter Goss to lead the CIA continues the president’s pattern of using the Sept. 11 tragedy for political benefit.

Gore, in a speech to the Music Row Democrats, said that with the selection of Goss, an eight-term congressman from Florida, Bush “just thumbed his nose” at the bipartisan commission established to investigate the attacks.

This type of crazy Al endorsement is good enough for me.

More Kos Idiocy

by John Cole|  August 13, 200412:56 pm| 27 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

This post in particular is a gem.

In a moment of crisis, this is how Bush responds:

And he then details the infamous ‘seven minutes’ in which Bush was supposed to leap out of his seat, jump into a jet plane, and stop the terrorists from hitting the WTC. Whoops- they had already hit the WTC. WTF is the big deal about the seven minutes again?

Kos then states:

In a moment of crisis, this is how Kerry responds:

He then points to Kerry administering the Heimlich to a choking Senate.

Clearly, both events are exactly the same, and a clear indication why Kerry should be President. Truth be told, I guess that qualifies me for the Presidency, because I administered the Heimlich to a choking patron in a Greek diner in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1988 or 1989 (I can;t remember which year).

At any rate, the comparisn is absurd, and Kos closes with:

Had Kerry waited just 30 seconds more, Hecht would’ve been brain dead. Good thing he didn’t wait seven minutes.

Which makes me wonder who waited seven minutes to give Kos the Heimlich when he was choking.

McGreevey, Part 3

by John Cole|  August 13, 200412:47 pm| 15 Comments

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

Thomas Galvin has the DEFINITIVE run-down on the McGreevey scandals.

I really wish idiots like Atrios and Kos would quit pretending this is about homosexuality. This is about corruption- plain and simple. The message from those two is:

“America is such an awful bigoted place because someone had to leave office because he was gay.”

Which is absurd. Not only is this not the case, but it is the exact opposite. America is so much less bigoted that no one other than the race-baiters/gay-baiters/professionally-oppressed even care that McGreevey is/was gay. This is about corruption.

*** Update ***

Much, much more here.

Exactly

The Hammer:

The Democrats have reacted to the Swift boat vets with anguished and selective indignation. This assault was bankrolled by rich Bush supporters, they charge. No kidding. Where else would Swift boat vets get the money? With the exception of the romantic few who serially marry millionaire heiresses, Swift boaters are generally of modest means. Where are they going to get the cash to be heard? Harold Ickes?

The Democrats next charge that the very idea of attacking the military service of a heroic American is disgraceful. On this there are two points. The “heroic” part is precisely what is at issue here, and the Swift boat veterans who themselves served honorably have some questions about it.

More important, who brought up Kerry’s military record in the first place? If Kerry had not made his Vietnam service the very centerpiece of his campaign — “I’m John Kerry and I’m reporting for duty” — this attack on his record could more justly be deemed scurrilous mudslinging. But if you run as a war hero, your claims of heroism are fair game.

Hehe..
