Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The willow is too close to the house.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Accountability, motherfuckers.

They spent the last eight months firing professionals and replacing them with ideologues.

This really is a full service blog.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Dolly is a hoot and a half. And not a lot of folks know how wicked smaht she is.

    But is it gritty?

@Yutsano: I didn’t realize how tiny she is until I saw her in concert. She’s probably 5’2″ without heels and 4’6″ without her wig.

She’s a sweetie, and has a great voice (country-style) and a great sense of humor about her enormous boobs.

Not everybody could carry those basketballs around with such grace.

Did you guys get in on the excitement? Somebody actually said that we have a chance in the House.

    Sam Wang, Princeton Election something-or-other:

The Presidency and control of the Senate are nearly certain to go to the Democrats. The House is very much in play, but Democrats may have a slight advantage. This is why Nancy Pelosi and Bill Kristol are speaking as they are. This is also why much smart money is now flowing downticket – where it can make a difference.

[This was a non-mathematical summation of his previously posted discussion with lots of math.]

@Linda Featheringill: We’re gonna have to work our tails off for it. Having said that, the teatard revolution has just about boo to show for their recent surge to power, and that has to be costing some of the freshmen Congresscritters to be rather unpopular in their districts.

    I’ll continue the whining tone…

I’m one day in to a rather laconic 3 day move – just to the next suburb over, but moving still sucks. Most annoyingly: I’ve borrowed a pickup from work to move my books/bookshelves and I reversed a little too enthusiastically and hit a fence with the edge of the bumper. The fence was aluminum and dented rather spectacularly, but the bumper is fine (aside from a few green streaks). Seeing as this is the fieldwork pickup I’m probably not going to say anything about the green streaks to them, but I’ve called up the business whose fence I hit and offered to pay for the damage.

Dude first of all, he named his cat “Tardar Sauce” and only calls him “Tard” for short (besides, even if he did call it a retard, the cat won’t understand, much less care). Second, just because that cat was born with an unusual face that makes him look grumpy doesn’t mean he’s actually grumpy. So no, the cat is not getting harassed, it looks like he is clearly enjoying being scratched like that.

    I have my own idiots

I know that talking politics at work is a no no, but in my defense tea baggers paint targets on their own foreheads. Cornering you in the break room telling you how they have the golden bullet. They rant on about some non-issue that they just heard on Rush.

Yesterday I was cornered by two of my idiots, they asked with a laugh about my Obama cell phone? I told them that I made far too much money for one. Though I never supported W I do think he did the right thing in expanding the program to cell phones that started in the 1930s and thanked them for the Rush update of stupid. Then to kick dirt in their face asked how Ron Paul was doing.

The day before it was school lunches, and how they can’t wait for Ann Romney to be first lady. One stepped toward me to announce how good looking Ann is. I snickered and told him that was great, but I am not into mummified cunts.

I never feel bad after. I know it is like picking on mentally handicapped people, but they are just so fucking evil.

If you want to hear a really great voice find Dolly when she was singing with Porter Wagoner. He sucks but her voice is so beautiful then and her style so much better.

She changed when she got out from under him and became the middle of the road slush fountain we enjoy today. But back then the lady displayed some awesome pipes.

I had the misfortune of working at a C&W radio station back about that time. While I love Blue Grass I was not, and still am not, a fan of that era country. But I bought every record Parton sang on (had to skip over the Wagoner only tracks – gad iPods are a blessing!).

Bonus – if you see her then and can ignore the bizzaro hair she was a natural beauty pre-augmentation

She can also play the hell out of a guitar too. No mere singer here.

And, has written super smash hit songs for Whitney Houston.

    So there’s that too.
