    That was great. I can’t figure out who decided to run that AFTER the dumb California sketch where they just talk about roads. Those of us who can’t stay awake too well sometimes give up after the first sketch when it’s not funny.

    Hilarious. When humor hits hard like that, it’s a force for good. I heard an interview with a comedian recently about how humor works – there has to be an underlying assumption of some truth or common experience that everyone in the comedian’s audience has to have or the joke doesn’t work. That’s why conservative humor is so much FAIL.

    Great premise for a sketch, but something else is bothering me… I can’t quite put my finger on it…

    I guess now that they’ve cast a black Obama, SNL has switched to yellowface?

    This was one of the best SNL skits for *many* years, irrespective of subject.

    I laughed so hard during the “traditional sarcastic dancing” it was painful.

    It was missing one thing.

    I said, at the time, “Where are the executives?”

    @Marc: Thoght the same thing. Though Hollywood in general seems to be able to do things with Asians they would never even try with other races.

    I was going to complain about the autoplay, until I saw this skit cruelly torpedo and sink the S.S. First World Problems.

    @Citizen_X: Well, autoplay does suck. And autoplay was invented here, and is usually controllable by the person embedding the video. It’s not that we can never complain, but we can have some perspective about it.

    Like ‘irregardless’. Complain all you want about that word, but it’s just a dumb word.

    @jibeaux:

    That was great. I can’t figure out who decided to run that AFTER the dumb California sketch where they just talk about roads.

    If you’re from Southern California, the sketch is pretty funny. Not a knee slapper, but there is some sharp satire in how some Southern Californians define themselves in terms of zip codes and freeway access. I knew a college kid who would not date a woman because she lived in Anaheim. Too far to drive.

    There used to be a bumper sticker that some who lived in the Beach Cities liked, “There is no life East of Sepulveda.”

    This was one of the best SNL skits for many years, irrespective of subject.

    Are we watching the same sketch? This sketch was unfunny, and worse, racist. I guess if you are an Apple fanboi, it was funny since it made fun of the tech pundits complaining about the iPhone 5, but otherwise…

    Hey now where’s the NSFW tag? I know, I know, reading Balloon Juice and watching videos at work, shame on me! But I had to replay traditional sarcastic dance for the guy in the next cubicle on account of out-loud laughing.

    @jibeaux:
    Indeed. Thankfully I linger for Weekend Update, often with the sounds kinda low. The CA road sketch was dreck, more in keeping with the last 1/3 of the show.

    @Parrotlover77: I did kinda wince at the lame fake-asian accents and characterizations. But they do pretty much the same to other categories, so I went with the whole piece slamming Apple for their labor, and all the fanboi ‘reviewers’ who don’t give a rat’s ass about labor exploits.

    Thx for posting, Mister.
