Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Oppose, oppose, oppose. do not congratulate. this is not business as usual.

The way to stop violence is to stop manufacturing the hatred that fuels it.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Find someone who loves you the way trump and maga love traitors.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

Dear legacy media: you are not here to influence outcomes and policies you find desirable.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. keep building.

The Kids Aren’t Alright

The kids are stupid, willfully ignorant, and unaware of any and all history. They believe propaganda and agitprop over reality (“No Blood for Oil” and “Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Bush- The Real Axis of Evil” are slogans used in the place of thinking), and believe that their own government is the root of all evil. The kids most certainly are not alright.

Worst of all, they are stupid.

“stupid, willfully ignorant, and unaware of any and all history.”

OK, if the war had started in 1938 the west would have lost quickly. Britain had just a handful of fighter planes, and had just started to mobilize an army for a war everyone knowledgeable knew was coming. Chamberlin bought England a year they desperately needed. Churchill knews this and always thought he got a raw deal by public opinion.

“stupid, willfully ignorant, and unaware of any and all history.”

In 1937 Roosevelt wanted to prepare for the war, but Republicans and Isolationists in congress threatetened to impeach, yes impeach him if he tried.

In 1940, showing the hypocrisy Repubs are famous for, Repub candidate Wendell Wilkie claimed Roosevelt hadn’t done enough to prepare for the war.

speaking of “willfully ignorant”, yesterday Hamas blew up–a tank. A tank with soldiers in it. Somehow you didn’t think this bombing worthy of mention.

So you peace-at-all-costs kiddies are actually doing us all a favor right now, and simply delaying Saddam for a year until we are better prepared to invade?

    How noble of you. Thanks.
