    Thanks to whoever menitoned the color blurb jersey thing downstairs. (It’s easier to see for some flags and color backgrounds than others. England’s white blended into the background, and Norway’s red was the same as the flag.)

    That rapinoe caution was soft, justified if persistent infringement or unsporting/pattern of tactical fouling… But if straight ub that was soft… I can’t give that as a caution in a men’s college or semi pro game

    Edmonton and Calgary are the same size, the 5th and 6th biggest cities in Canada, respectively — I live in Edmonton, it’s the most northerly metropolitan area in North America with a population of a million.

    @Steeplejack (phone): Halftime yakkers not nearly as pro-US and “shocked” by how play is going as the game announcers during the first half. Very entertaining match tactically so far – nice to see Colombia not awed by the USA (I guess that’s what beating France will do for you).

    @Baud: lots of things made that red. #1 no play on ball, keeper was looking away from ball and only playing the attacker.
    #2 point of contact was high… Mid shin of attacker and the keepers contact point was just below her knee, a whole lot of force on a vulnerable bone… That is a leg breaking tackle. Those are the two reasons I think it is serious foul play.

    The other red option is denying obvious goal scoring opportunity by committing a foul… Attacker was 1v1 ball in playing distance, ball in shooting distance and heading straight to goal when she gets destroyed. Without the foul the attacker has a great chance to get a good shot. Either write up works. Dogso is cleaner for ref as that is a clinic video example

    Just got back from the mall. They are actually showing the game on the screens in the food court, but just a few people are watching and they don’t seem to be very invested in the game either.
    And as I got home, the game apparently turned against my Colombianas. As expected, really.

    Both USA and center referee passed their assessments and should get another match but a lot of things to talk about in post game debrief and video review

    @Baud: Everything is counted against the 90 minutes. It’s just that generally, time is added whenever there’s a short break that can be deliberately/artificially extended.Things like substitutions, PK’s and injuries. As well as hydration breaks, and excessive time retrieving balls for throw ins and corner/goal kicks.
