Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The National Guard is not Batman.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

In my day, never was longer.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Stay strong, because they are weak.

The lights are all blinking red.

This really is a full service blog.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

When we show up, we win.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Sorry for the title of this post, but you nee3d to read Krauthammer in Time:

Bill Moyers may have his politics, but his deferential demeanor and almost avuncular television style made him the Mr. Rogers of American politics. So when he leaves his neighborhood to go to a “Take Back America” rally and denounces George W. Bush’s “government of, by and for the ruling corporate class,” leading a “right-wing wrecking crew” engaged in “a deliberate, intentional destruction of the United States way of governing,” you know that something is going on.

That something is the unhinging of the Democratic Party. Democrats are seized with a loathing for President Bush

you would think that with all the damn spending increases democrats would at least not hate him asmuch as they do. Why they hate him remains a mystery to me.

Don’t forget, he’s really damn stupid except for when he’s brilliantly lying and misleading the sheeple. And Rove is the most powerful entity in the universe — one stray look from his evil eye and you will succumb to his will, especially if you are in the media.

Democrats spend their energy hating George Bush because they’ve lost any principles to get excited about. They are without any causes or issues.

I’d say the hammer hit the thumb.
“Bush’s manner is not particularly aggressive.” ?!

Right. So when he recklessly taunts the enemy with , “Bring it on,” deems the U.N. “irrelevant,” (but oops!, they’re suddenly relevant again, now that our troops are sitting ducks for the flood of new terrorists into Iraq that Bush’s war has provoked), smirks when he says, “..or we’ll bring Justice to the terrorists,” divides the world into simplistic ‘us vs. them’ camps, etc. – he’s not aggressive?

I admit, I do hate George Bush.

Frankly, I think I have very good reasons. I’m rather amazed how many people here don’t mind, even like, being led by the foggiest crystal ball in history (surpluses, WMD, yellowcake, job creation).

The answer to the puzzle of where the depth of feeling comes from, Mr. Krauthammer, is that many of us are not fundamentalists who are uncomfortable with American freedoms — unlike yourself.

It’s fun watching the reactionary left self-destruct.

I don’t really see any ‘self-destruction’ going on here. Let’s just say that doing my part to vote him out next year will be a deep pleasure.

“you would think that with all the damn spending increases democrats would at least not hate him asmuch as they do. Why they hate him remains a mystery to me.”

No kidding Mark. The guy spends more than Clinton in terms of discretionary spending. For example, the Democrats and their propagandists (read Kevin Drum) are spewing spittle about what a liar Bush is about his education spending. But the track record is clear:

    Clinton’s 1st 4 years: 10.3% increase in spending
    Bush’s 1st 4 years: 24.7% increase in spending

You also forgot that Bush is also planning on taking over the country and running it like his own personal kingdom. Check out Kevin Drum’s interview with Krugman…its scary how nutty Krugman has become.

“I don’t really see any ‘self-destruction’ going on here. Let’s just say that doing my part to vote him out next year will be a deep pleasure.”

Sure, no self-destruction. Nevermind that the left hasn’t come up with any decent policies in what…4-5 years.

I dunno, I kind of enjoy watching lefties writhe in their bitter agony. We’re talking a collective psychosis when it comes to the level of anger and bitterness these folks have for Bush. It is a character flaw of weakness and frustration that they are unable to conceal. It seems to be getting the best of them, and politically it is a fatal flaw, just ask Bob Dole.

I like my President’s aggressive. The passive approach we used in the ’90s got 3000 innocent people murdered. The last aggressive Democratic president, other than sexually aggressive, was John F. Kennedy, and they killed him.

So Bush is “aggressive” because he said “f— Saddam.” Wow, next thing you know, he might get REALLY aggressive and say something nasty about taking out Osama. Watch out!

Wow, with a vote for a US President, Kimmitt can make the entire world live in peace. What is this? Some new X-Man power we don’t know about?
