Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

All hail the time of the bunny!

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Bowling For Columbine

I just saw Bowling for Columbine, and as was expected, it was neither as good nor as bad as most would have you believe. Moore was fast and loose with a lot of things- but that is to be expected. The subject he covered best was his criticism of the media’s incessant coverage of crime as well as his discussion of race, the lowpoint was the treatment of Charlton Heston.

Overall, I am so numb to outrage from the far-left and far-right anymore that I didn’t even come close to throwing anything at the television. Roger & Me was still a better film, though.

I hope you didn’t actually pay good money to see it.

at least michael moore is making films about real issues and something he, and alot of other people, care about instead of the next big american pie or shoot ’em up movie.

The man who gave us “black guys would have done a better job of fighting back against the terrorists on the planes on 9/11 than the white guys actually there did” is suddenly offering non-asinine observations on the subject of race? With respect, John (since I know your viewpoints on that topic and find them eminently reasonable), I’d appreciate you clarifying as to what struck you as useful about Moore’s insights in BfC.

I’d probably be a lot more willing to watch it if the title itself wasn’t an outright fabrication. It’s a flaw, I know.

Michael Moore you are so great!–Not–see all those lies you tell is really contagious. Its really sad what you would do just to make a dollar..telling people lies on top of LIES…shame on you…
