Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

We still have time to mess this up!

Fear and negativity are contagious, but so is courage!

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

People are weird.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

The National Guard is not Batman.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

So Long, John Edwards

by John Cole|  October 14, 20038:49 pm| 1 Comment

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

FacebookTweetEmail

According to CalPundit, John Edwards, in an act of sheer desperation, has determined that he would rather have some short term headlines rather than be considered a serious leader:

In a conference call with reporters, Edwards said that Bush’s policy there had failed and that he would oppose the aid request to pressure Bush to change course.

….Edwards said he did not want the United States to withdraw from Iraq, but believed that a congressional vote denying Bush the funds would compel the administration to develop a new reconstruction plan that provided a larger role to the United Nations and ensured that the rebuilding “will not be exploited as a means to give sweetheart deals to [the president’s] friends.”

For the record, Oliver- stating “that Bush’s policy there had failed” is not only politicizing the situation in Iraq, but an abject lie. The 87 billion requested includes 20 billion for the reconstruction of Iraq, and 67 billion for military needs, all to continue to finish the job that EDWARDS himself voted to start.

Howard Dean also has said that he would vote against this money. I am not suprised that at least one of the senators are trying to stay with him – just to see if they gain any traction.

I am more interested in seeing how Kerry and Gephardt vote (I think Lieberman will support it). And how they spin their vote…
