I’m in the 1b group that is eligible starting March 1. Work is trying to get the okay to do a vaccine clinic on site from the state, i think. Otherwise, I’ll probably be driving to the nearest work affiliated clinic, so 30-45 minute drive. Worth it, though. ?

In Washington State even though I have multiple comorbidities, it’s “Wait until April or May.”
I thought I found some emergency extra doses yesterday but it turned out to be an illusion and I’m not willing to lie, so it’s another exciting weekend of sitting at home with the cats. Woo! Pro tip: go to bed at 3 PM and you don’t have to figure out a way of killing another Saturday.

I’m eligible in VA, registered at the VHD, call BonSecours daily (where Health Provider is), check CVS and Walgreens. Nothing ever available any time. Beyond frustrating.

Health departments in Tennessee counties stepped up early to testing last year and they’re now the focal point for vaccination. The over-65 cohort just opened and we’ve got appointments next Friday afternoon.

@HinTN: Interest, the TN website tells me they haven’t started the age groups without co-morbidities or social responsibility qualifiers. You must be in another county that isn’t primarily AA (you know, an opposition county.) Our county has run out of jabs a couple of times.

Not to rub it in, but that first day notification that you’ve had a semi truck shot into your arm might just keep you awake most of the first night as it expands and runs around getting used to the new garage in your arm.
I have to say if slight arm pain is a good thing, I must be having the time of my life…..

I find that I can’t even discuss this rationally anymore.
We live on Whidbey Island, in Island County WA. Both over 65. Mr Hitch is a quadriplegic.
December: Major excitement!! The vaccines work!! Thank FSM and all the scientists.
January: Governor announces that everyone over 65 can be vaccinated. Halleluliah! Make an appointment for the first available spot.
January: Appointment cancelled, no notice, heard thru the local grapevine. Checked online. Yep. Start over, place in line lost.
January: Start over, secure place in line again, fingers crossed.
. . .
After two more rounds of that, we have a third new appointment, for a week from tomorrow.
Should we plan on that? Or just assume it’s not going to happen, again. The first couple of times had to do with screwups and/or doses being re-routed to other parts of the state. The most recent was because of the storm. And yet I know dozens of people in WA who got jabbed who are in my demographic but not my county.

It’s making me utterly bananas, friends. This goddamn thing would kill my spouse, and we have been patient and compliant for a year. Now it feels like every day is an insult, and I am ready to throttle the next person who tells me how easy it was for them, OR how they just don’t think they want it.
It’s fucking madness.

What’s up with Ilinois? Any over-65 Illinois jackals know how to get appointments?
My older sister is 70 with chronic asthma and she cannot get an appointment anywhere in the north ‘burbs of Chicago. She is certified, eligible and has her name on all the wait lists but cannot get an appointment. Walgreens now only makes appointments two days in advance and she is on that site every day. No luck.
Here in California, I have had my first dose already and have an appointment for my second. Our younger sister has had both doses in Florida.

I can tell that it is going to be a while for me to get my vaccine in Oregon. I’m going to just snooze until April or so. My birthday is in May, maybe the first jab will be my bday present.

@hitchhiker: WA State has been terrible. Apparently the health department officials believed that implementation would be easy, just get it to healthcare providers, voila! These providers are overwhelmed especially in places where vaccinations, and immunity, would have a huge impact.
My younger, lower risk, partner, is getting his second jab at this moment. I booked an appointment with Kaiser a couple hours after he did. Kaiser’s website rejected my password and security question answers. Apparently they’re having “problems”. My phone call got an appointment two months out. My partner got his first jab four days after he went online.
Inslee is a nice guy but there are times for heads to roll.
The optics demand it.

I’m eligible now (over 50 with one health issue) but there are no vaccines in town. The city is having a mass vaccine clinic March 11-12 with sign-ups starting Feb 25 so I should be able to get it then – they will have about 2000 doses. I put a reminder on my calendar to sign up as soon as it is possible.

I’m surprised Inslee is still showing his face in public. This is unbelievably bad, and every day that it goes on is just more evidence that his calm, by-the-numbers persona is bullshit.
I have to think that somewhere, somebody is really trying to get their arms around distribution … or maybe they’ve just thrown their hands up and trusted that we’ll go on being compliant with prevention guidelines long enough for the promised overflow supply of vaccines to appear. Maybe they think we’ll forget all about the current unpleasantness once it’s in the past. I’m watching events unfold in TX, though, and it feels like this situation is a reminder that incompetence is here too, and will be just as deadly for some unfortunate few of us.
It’s just enraging to be treated this way. They don’t even send you a fucking email to say your appt has been cancelled! You have to keep checking every goddamn day yourself, which makes it somehow worse to be 3 days away at last and find that they rescheduled you again.

I live in Illinois In the past month it’s gone from over 65 with comorbidities, then 65 no comorbidities, then essential workers. then one other group that I’ve forgotten, then a week ago it was 40-64 with comorbidities.
Everything here is coordinated with the local public health department.
Things are rolling along here in Champaign County. Where do you live?
They are doing 1,300 people a day at each location, and they have multiple locations – different groups get vaccinated at different locations around town.

She is signed up and approved for the community program. She is also trying to get an appointment with one of the pharmacies in the area. But so far, no luck.

@Scout211: Yikes. Frustrating. It really seems partially dependent on how good your local public health department is. I’m sure the weather isn’t helping. That’s clearing up here, so hopefully elsewhere in the midwest, also.
Our low today is 23 instead of minus 10, so things are looking up weather-wise!
