Toronto held a tremendous vaccination clinic yesterday at Scotiabank Arena, the home of the Maple Leafs and the Raptors. Their goal was to give out 25,000 shots in one day, which apparently would be a new one-day, one-place, record for Canada and the U.S. It was hyped all week on local media. From the news reports it sounds like everyone got into the spirit of the thing – let’s set a new record! win hockey or basketball tickets! It was all very orderly because it was appointment only until the evening. In the end they delivered an amazing 26,771 shots!

I got my second Pfizer shot in San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico on June 16. Next week 30 to 40 year olds become eligible.

Got my Moderna in Germany a few weeks ago. Minimal side effects. They’re spacing the shots out by 5 weeks (isn’t it 3-4 in the US?). Took forever to get the appointment; they’ve basically caught up with the US now, after a stunningly slow start. My biggest question is whether they will plateau here as the US has

I thought I got the shot (Moderna), but after last night’s discussion, apparently I should go get Pfizer, J&J, and maybe even Sinovac and Sputnik. As someone said, it’s like Pokemon — gotta get ’em all!

My 26-year old daughter finally got both doses :) Mom is quite relieved. She is the ranger at a state park in Eastern WA, and is around waaay too many people all the time. She’s got a limited staff, all of whom are older than her, and she let them all get vaxed first.
So, both of Ruemara’s kittys, please! Now if we can all survive Heatpocolypse 2021. It’s brutal here, worse for her – temps today will be 117-120.

Both kids (14/13 years) got their first shot of Pfizer yesterday.
So the whole family got the first shot by now.
So far, Austria is still limited by the availability of shots, not arms. I expect this to change in a few weeks. Statistics are here.

Here in France, I got my second shot last Tuesday. The rest of the family braved the needle as well, so we’re good for the holidays.

Longtime lurker here, popping in to say I’m proud of my big brother in Wisconsin, who got his first shot a few weeks ago. Why didn’t he get it sooner? Damned if I know. He’s nearly 60 and in poor health, so he surely needs it. What spurred him to finally get it was my sister and I asking him to. We didn’t have to beg, cajole, or badger. We just asked, and I told him where he could go to get it. I think he just needed to know that someone cared enough to ask. I’m proud to have helped, and also slightly ashamed I didn’t check in with him earlier. We’re not that close. So the moral of the story is, if there’s someone in your life who you care about and you’re not sure they’re vaxxed, just ask. If they put up a fight, you don’t have to engage any further. But the fact that you care enough to ask could be the thing that gets them to get the shot.
