Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. keep building.

I really should read my own blog.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Let there be snark.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

Let me file that under fuck it.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

People are weird.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

Left-Coaster OpieJeanne will be visiting, and Carlo Graziani has made the arrangements!

Goose Island Brewhouse, 1800 North Clybourn Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614

Saturday, May 7, 2 PM. Reservation for party of 11. Ground floor, accessible area. 20% service fee added to check for “large party” (I actually prefer that to tipping, YMMV).

It would be great if people who are planning to attend would confirm again here.

Leave a comment if you plan to be there — lurkers & friends always welcome!

Damn, I would love to join that list, both because of location and the folks on the list.  Grandson’s first communion does take precedent however.

Yes, I’m in.  Just found out today I don’t have to work Saturday, so 2:00 is fine.

Carlo – any idea on what parking is like over there?  Private lot? Street?

@Citizen Alan: In all probability (don’t want to go but what’chu gonna do) will be in the NYC area tentatively sometime between mid-August and early September and will attempt to set something rolling then.

Meantime, nothing but constraints on your time so far as organizing something yourself.

@stacib: there is a small private parking lot that it shares with some other stores. It can be challenging. As Yogi Berra supposedly said, nobody goes there anymore, it’s to crowded.

There is street parking if your patient and look around. Is bet something like SpotHero would help you reserve a nearby spot.

I have to withdraw.  There will be a march downtown about Roe, starting at Noon.  I will be attending. I don’t know how long it will last, but I am assuming at least 1 hour and likely longer.

So I am going to pass this time.  I hope everyone has a great time!

@stacib: Last time I was there I could not find a parking lot, but it was pretty easy to find street parking.  There’s a FAQ on their Google Maps site that claims that they also have a lot. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and give them a call to ask them how one goes about locating it. if I can find it I’ll try to post a geolocation.

@A Good Woman: I understand. Nonetheless: We start 2 hours later, and probably will hang out for a while. If you think you might need refreshment after the march, and feel like letting us know how it went, we’d love to have you join us. If you think that’s a possibility, let me know and I can leave a mobile number with WaterGirl, so that you can check whether we’re still in session.

@Ohio Mom:  My mother is 86 and has entered palliative care. And since I presently have a job that allows me to telework for a judge in Pennsylvania, I can easily do it from her house while I help her with stuff.  But that job is only through mid August.
