Left-Coaster OpieJeanne will be visiting, and Carlo Graziani has made the arrangements!
Goose Island Brewhouse, 1800 North Clybourn Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
Saturday, May 7, 2 PM. Reservation for party of 11. Ground floor, accessible area. 20% service fee added to check for “large party” (I actually prefer that to tipping, YMMV).
It would be great if people who are planning to attend would confirm again here.
Leave a comment if you plan to be there — lurkers & friends always welcome!
WaterGirl
This is the list from Carlo in the first thread for the meetup, which is still linked in the sidebar. Are all of you guys still planning to attend?
WaterGirl
I took the liberty of adding the link – up top – to the previous post for this meeting, and then I added THIS post as the link in the sidebar.
narya
@WaterGirl: I am NOT attending–I will be out of town (unfortunately).
prostratedragon
Intending to be there, and looking forward to it.
japa21
Damn, I would love to join that list, both because of location and the folks on the list. Grandson’s first communion does take precedent however.
stacib
Yes, I’m in. Just found out today I don’t have to work Saturday, so 2:00 is fine.
Carlo – any idea on what parking is like over there? Private lot? Street?
Citizen Alan
Is there gonna be a NYC meet up before I have to go back to Hellhole. Mississippi
WaterGirl
@Citizen Alan: You can always organize one!
NotMax
@Citizen Alan: In all probability (don’t want to go but what’chu gonna do) will be in the NYC area tentatively sometime between mid-August and early September and will attempt to set something rolling then.
Meantime, nothing but constraints on your time so far as organizing something yourself.
NotMax
#9 meant to be @Citizen Alan.
Sure Lurkalot
May all the attendees have a bon temps roulee!
Eric S.
@stacib: there is a small private parking lot that it shares with some other stores. It can be challenging. As Yogi Berra supposedly said, nobody goes there anymore, it’s to crowded.
There is street parking if your patient and look around. Is bet something like SpotHero would help you reserve a nearby spot.
Eric S.
Also, I plan to be there. I may not make it right at 2 but not too much later I hope.
WaterGirl
@NotMax: Fixed you.
A Good Woman
I have to withdraw. There will be a march downtown about Roe, starting at Noon. I will be attending. I don’t know how long it will last, but I am assuming at least 1 hour and likely longer.
So I am going to pass this time. I hope everyone has a great time!
NotMax
Now I want deep dish pizza.
:)
MagdaInBlack
I wish that this were in my budget, I do love going in to the city. But it is not, so I will live vicariously and I expect pictures ?
Geminid
@Citizen Alan: I’d like to think you won’t have to go back. I really hope you can find a place where you can be happier.
Eljai
Looking forward!
Darkrose
This Expat Chicagoan will be thinking of you all!
Ohio Mom
@Citizen Alan: Why must you go back to Hellhole Mississippi? We are all in pain at that thought!
A Streeter
Another expat Chicagoan who can’t be there and wishes he could be.
Formerly on S. Indiana Avenue, later on E. 52nd Street, now on A Street SE in another town.
stacib
@Eric S.: Thanks! See you there.
Carlo Graziani
@stacib: Last time I was there I could not find a parking lot, but it was pretty easy to find street parking. There’s a FAQ on their Google Maps site that claims that they also have a lot. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and give them a call to ask them how one goes about locating it. if I can find it I’ll try to post a geolocation.
opiejeanne
We’ll be there. Looking forward to meeting all of you.
Carlo Graziani
@A Good Woman: I understand. Nonetheless: We start 2 hours later, and probably will hang out for a while. If you think you might need refreshment after the march, and feel like letting us know how it went, we’d love to have you join us. If you think that’s a possibility, let me know and I can leave a mobile number with WaterGirl, so that you can check whether we’re still in session.
Citizen Alan
@Geminid: I’ve applied for a job in Newark which I would kill for. We’ll see what happens.
Citizen Alan
@Ohio Mom: My mother is 86 and has entered palliative care. And since I presently have a job that allows me to telework for a judge in Pennsylvania, I can easily do it from her house while I help her with stuff. But that job is only through mid August.
mrmoshpotato
Reconfirming I’ll be there.
opiejeanne
@mrmoshpotato: yay!
PST
I definitely plan to be there. I live in the West Loop, and the weather will be nice enough to bicycle. That’s a good thing since my wife will have the car.

I’m so sorry, I have a personal situation I have to take care of. I’m totally bummed! Have a wonderful time!
