Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

“When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re gonna use it.”

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

So very ready.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

The world has changed, and neither one recognizes it.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Let there be snark.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

You would normally have to try pretty hard to self-incriminate this badly.

The snowflake in chief appeared visibly frustrated when questioned by a reporter about egg prices.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Michelle Malkin has compiled a list of 25 ways you personally can help support the troops. Go check them out, and if you can, do something nice for our men and women overseas.

Hey, she forgot the most vital way to support the troops — the “Santorum for Senate” bumpersticker.

Why does Malkin hate our troops?

OK–thanks. I hope you realize how noble it is of me to go to her site, but, for the troops, I’ll do it!

Otto Man — that was the point of her point 25. She said “immunize from Stein”, but what she meant was “don’t be a jerk who hides behind the deaths and suffering of other people to advance your own career, even if they have been beaten in a persistent vegetative state“

Did “beat Michelle Malkin into a PVS” make the list?

I think anyone who is both intelligent (as I believe Malkin may be) seriously reacts negatively to the Stein article immediately becomes a dunce. The Stein article had some decent points, with a touch of bitter humour and a very stinging introduction. But if you read the entire article, I think it has some good points for anti-war protestors and pro-war supporters alike (ie: the idea of being “against the war but for the troops” is arguably dumb).

One thing we can agree on though: he certainly isn’t helping the “opposition party” fight back the tide that is Rove.

Stein was refreshingly honest. I wish there were more of that going around.

I worked for the VA for four years after the last foreign military clusterfuck. Support the troops. Bring ’em home. Give ’em medical care, give ’em a decent GI Bill.

Idea number 26. Fire Rumsfeld and bring in someone who notices the problems the current military are having and works immediately to a) get body armor to every field soldier, b) get transport armor to every unit that needs it, and c) actually does something other than act like he’s got blinders on.

She forgot “Enlist Now”. That should be the #1 thing you can do to support the troops right now.

You had your chance to support the troops back in November 2004. 52% of you chose not to. Now the troops have to live with it.

the idea of being “against the war but for the troops” is arguably dumb

I would say it’s only dumb because it’s even raised as a point.

Anybody who would dare question an American’s patriotism and loyalty to nation, just because of a disagreement on a policy decision, is dumb.

Wow, and here I almost thought she was trying to be decent, without snarling. What was I thinking?

It doesn’t take away from the value of a lot of those organizations, though. Still, I think “Operation Baby Love” sounds pretty funny.

I shouldn’t giggle. I should give her the benefit of the doubt. She may be sincere in this.

But I now have a horrible image of two guys in Iraq, dusty, tired, and missing home. One is sporting a jaunty pink crocheted skullcap.

She may be sincere in this.

I have no doubt that she’s sincere, just as she is in advocating the Culture of Lie…I mean, Life. That doesn’t mean she’s not absurd and ridiculous.

As Lloyd Benson put it, so eloquently: “I know absurdity. Absurdity is my friend. Michelle Malkin is absurd.”

For Christ’s sake people. The Stein article was one of the worst things I have ever seen a major publication run. It was not humor/satire. He made that abundantly clear in follow up interviews. I give him credit for his honesty – beyond that he is scum. LAT will never get as much as another page view from me.

Because the link goes to Malkin most of you can’t resist smacking her around, second only to getting in the usual shots at the administration, rather than address the topic of the thread.

Most of this belongs on DU or dKos.

LOL. Great post to start the day!

DougJ, I hate to tell you this, but if you saw the pup tent scene in the movie, then John Cole is the “Top” in your relationship with him :-)

PS: that is not a slam against you. I still think you need to have your own blog.

Oh dear…mental image of DougJ and John Cole, in a pup tent, snuggling together under a lovely baby-blue blanket, crocheted lovingly by Michelle Malkin.

    I think I just damaged a synapse…

Of course, when I saw #5, I immediately heard the voice of that garbage-can ersatz-Oscar character from Dave Chappelle’s “Kneehigh Park” skit, saying “Man, that’s the gayest shit I ever heard.”

Malkin is to Joel Stein like a Thompson Machine Gun is to a Colt .45.

If Malkin were actually ever sincere, then maybe this would be a topic worth discusisng. But she’s not.

Malkin is sincerely wacked. So is anyone who buys her horsebrithume nonsense.

Why should anyone have to donate frequent flyer miles to the troops? What the fook are we paying taxes for? What the fook are we spending so much on Defense for?

Still, I’d love to see a platoon fall in with GI-crocheted hats and body armor. That’s entertainment.
