When I saw the Steelers with first and goal at the 5 with 44 seconds left, I figured Ben would throw a pick to end the game. Thankfully, I was wrong. On the last play, I thought the Cleveland dude was gonna come up with the catch. Again, I am happy to have been wrong about that.
That WR screen Ben threw is quite possibly the worst pass of the season, though.

Some consolation, maybe, but I’d rather have another mark in the W column.

They showed the last sixteen seconds of the game up here in New England after CBS switched away from the Pats-Packers spanking, and I was reminded of two things – just how much I love the Browns way down in my soul, and just how much they suck. According to the little chiron at the bottom of the screen, the Browns haven’t won consecutive same-season games since 2003. Congratulations, Steelers. You proved yourselves the least-worst team on that field today.

The quarterback protection rules are probably what decided that game. Rothlisberger was wraped up for like a 16 yard sack, but after hitting him, the lineman pulled his hands back in a gesture of innocence and let him go– afraid actually tackling him might be considered too harsh. The shicked Rothlisberger threw the ball away.
The plain fact is that with some of these larger QB’s like R, the amount of force required to actually knock them down is basically illegal.
On another one, a blitzing LB lept at R, inadvertantly grasping his facemask as he went by, again with the hands-up gesture of innocence. R. had the presence of mind to fall down, which meant that was technically “tackling by the facemask” and netting another 15.
Overall about 50 yards of “roughing the passer” related nonsense against C-land, where their QB was actually the one who got hit harder and more often.
C-land is on the verge of being a very credible team, but that O-line is the worst I have seen in many years. It sinks them every single time.
