Crap like this has no right to sound plausible. Go read, and then think about it for a minute. If that story was a movie not starring Mike Myers, Matt Damon or Daniel Craig I would probably walk out of it.
Speaking of signs, America leads an Amnesty report detailing governments who use 1984-like fear tactics to roll back civil rights. Go team.
craigie
Obviously, because we also lead the list of people who are afraid. I guess that’s what you get with leadership from draft dodgers.
Tax Analyst
Tim, Yes – I just saw the same Dick Cheney thing on a link Dreggas posted on another thread a short time ago. My comment was how amazing it was that Cheney was able to manipulate his way into the #2 spots so easily. He’s really a piece of work. If he could he would have the entire Middle-East in flames by tomorrow.
Zombie Santa Claus
So, America still leads the world! USA!! USA!!! USA!!!! USA!!!!!
Paul L.
I’ll take Amnesty International seriously when they show some outrage about this
Torture, Al-Qaeda Style
or this
My God!!! They’re Beating Their Women to a Bloody Pulp!
Without blame the US for it.
jeff
And there you have the reason that there is no possible way in hell the Democrats will impeach Bush.
Pb
I’m glad to hear that you take them seriously, then.
Pb
jeff,
Impeach them both at once, or impeach Cheney first.
Zifnab
Because sometimes you just feel compelled to feed the trolls. Here Paul. You might want to actually read AI’s website before you start accusing them of ignoring torture and msyogamy.

RSA
An “end run” around the President, planned and carried out by the Vice President. I wish we were talking about a game of football, so I could hope that Cheney might blow a valve when he makes his move and be sacked for a loss, but unfortunately this is the real world.
jg
The head our of our governments largest defense contractor is in favor of war with Iran and this is news?
Zifnab
No. But the head of our government’s largest defense contractor actively prodding Isreal to take a swing at Iran through government established channels is, in fact, something worth reporting.
Bubblegum Tate
AI (Amnesty International, not Allen Iverson) is clearly planning to sell its report in book form.
In other news, Dick Cheney is revealed to be a complete shitbag. Literally tens of people are shocked at the revelation.
ThymeZone
On the other hand, we’re still trying to come up with a list of things that would make us take you seriously.
Be patient, we may actually come up with something in the fullness of time.
Paul L.
Wow, a article from 12/29/2004.
That talks about woman beating that occurred about a week ago.
I am not accusing them of ignoring torture and misogyny.
I am accusing them of ignoring torture and misogyny involving Al-Qaeda and Iran.
MNPundit
Dick Cheney must be tried for treason!
Even if it results in my disappearance, I don’t care, he’s a god damn traitor.
Andrew
In the wonderful Peter Jackson movie Braindead, the hero is attacked by a zombie colon.
That’s sort of how I feel whenever Paul L. posts.
Someone’s bloody asshole has crawled outside of their body and, flailing large and small intestines wildly, has managed to post on the internets.
Dreggas
Nice Jackalope…of course this ignores the fact that Amnesty International routinely calls other countries on this crap but the countries are our “Allies” so we ignore it. Next completely idiotic argument?
Zifnab
There. Try reading it again, Paul. I fixed it for you.
Stooleo
The first link becomes even more sinister considering Bush wants to assume all federal power in the event of a national emergency.

Dug Jay
Calm down, Mr. Fox. This is hardly from a reliable source; in fact, it sounds a lot like it might have come from one of Joe Klein’s recent anonymous sources.
Tsulagi
You know, one thing I’ve been ticked off at the Dems for not doing so far is passing legislation limiting the Iraq AUMF. Because under it, Commander Guy would say he has the authority to go anywhere in the ME including Iran. Make him come before Congress to ask for new authority for new freedomizing adventures in nation building. I would almost think you could get enough Pubs if needed to override a veto on that.
The midterms may have dampened their spirits, but the Bush/Cheney couple are still thinking about doing Iran. We have a huge amount of naval firepower now cruising in and around the Gulf. We now have an admiral for CENTCOM commander. The hammer is getting cocked, and we have a drooling idiot holding the pistol.
Dreggas
Who’s taking bets that September brings some form of “National Emergency”? Barring that September of Next year….
Tsulagi
Okay now that’s just sick. Wonder if Blockbuster has it.
Jake
No right to sound plausible? You want implausible, bucko? Try “President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.” Now add “2000 – 2008.”
See? Palace Coups by the evil vizer don’t require you to suspend your belief more than a quarter-inch.
Oh my gods, that is both teh funniest and the vilest thing I’ve read in a long time. It is also a highly appropriate response to Paul L. since it features simian on lower mammal sex. Never mind the women, If Paul L. doesn’t stop shagging those jackelopes I’m going to call PETA on his arse.
Dreggas
I doubt it but I am going to check NetFlix for it, I still wanna see the movie where HR Geiger did the monsters which were giant condoms with very sharp teeth.
Tim F.
Nice to see you again, Dug Jay. Did you ever find that male hooker with a Dem client?
RSA
My understanding is that the R-rated version of Brain Dead/Dead Alive is heavily cut; there’s a good chance that Blockbuster won’t carry the unrated version, which would be the one to see.
Dreggas
damn mormons.
John S.
Also known here as Dead Alive.
That is an excellent metaphor, though. When I think of that out-of-body zombie colon preening itself in the mirror, Paul L. immediately comes to mind.
Bubblegum Tate
The fact that the out-of-body zombie colon also cuts one is pretty much the cherry on top.
Man, I freaking love that movie.
Jake
Hmmm.
Zombie Santa Claus = ZSC = Zombie Sigmoid Colon?
The Other Steve
Is there some secret meaning behind Green Days song “Wake me up when September Ends”?
Dreggas
I do believe that was written as a tribute to 9/11.
srv
This is probably a leak from whomever is performing all the domestic spying. They keep a close watch on the AEI and AIPAC, regardless of who the current leader is. But things are so bizarre now I wouldn’t put it past the Mossad leaking this because they think the Perles and Dobsons are batshit insane…
Dug Jay
Yes, the DC police finally located him and, somewhat strangely, he was asking why he hadn’t seen you lately. I gather the cops told him that Andy kept you busy most nights.
Andrew
Netflix has the uncut version of Dead Alive.
RSA
My favorite campy, over-the-top horror comedies:
Dead Alive (“I kick ass for the Lord!”)
Shaun of the Dead
Evil Dead (actually, all three. “Groovy.”)
Re-Animator
The Beyond (Jeffrey Combs is always a good bet.)
An American Werewolf in London
Motel Hell (preservatives)
I’m also a fan of surreal horror movies, but there are far fewer good examples.
Andrew
Throw in Bubba Ho-tep and that’s pretty close to my list too.
RSA
How could I forget? Bruce Cambpell is a good bet, too.
RSA
How could I forget? Bruce Campbell is always a good bet, too.
Krista
Can we add Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter to the list? I don’t know if it’s horror-ific enough, but it’s definitely campy and over-the-top, methinks.
RSA
Oh, my God. I saw that movie on what I believe was its opening night, in Ottawa. My wife and I had gotten a flyer handed to us while we were sightseeing, and we thought, “What the hel–why not?” We ended up standing in line in front of the directors’ parents, whom we chatted with, and apparently half of the audience were friends with the cast and crew. Many standing ovations throughout the showing. My favorite of Christ’s moves was his high kick, which Michael Myers stole for one of the Austin Powers movies. An instant camp classic.
Mattski
Hey if you like Shaun of the Dead, I highly suggest seeing “Hot Fuzz”
Pb
That’s right–Amnesty International has been taking these things seriously for years, not just last week, like you.
Wilfred
Above definition to be included in the Oxford Book of Internet Usage.
Entry: Tripe, right-wing. Sub-entry: L.,Paul, et al.
Dreggas
If you want some seriously campy B-rated horror I suggest Rawhead Rex. If you’ve seen it you know what I mean. It’s the only monster I have ever seen that uses a cheap halloween mask with blinking eyes for the head.
Also watch for the “baptism” scene.
RSA
Cool. I think I’ve read the Clive Barker story (at least I have it in a collection on my shelf, even if it doesn’t ring a bell), but I’ve never seen the movie. The IMDB keywords are appealing: Decapitation / Satanism / Ireland / Village.
Checking. . .Unbelievable. NetFlix doesn’t appear to carry it.
Dreggas
RSA,
It’s old as can be I only happened to find it in a video store back east and that was on VHS a long time ago, to recap the baptism scene, this catholic priest is under the thrall of the demon Rawhead Rex, in the scene they’re in the church courtyard and the priest is on his knees begging the demon to “baptise” him into its service. Rex roars and then proceeds to piss all over the priest, pure comic genius.
As for other good camp horror but not of the cheese variety be sure to check out Sub Species, it’s actually one of my fav vampire flicks and shot on location in Romania.
Punchy
And with that, it’s time for lunch.
RSA
I wish I could write something more intelligent than LOL, but, oh, well.
I did like at least one of the Subspecies movies, though I can’t remember which. I think a low budget and an eastern European set are actual advantages for some kinds of movies.
