Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

Keep the Immigrants and deport the fascists!

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

Republicans firmly believe having an abortion is a very personal, very private decision between a woman and J.D. Vance.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

I am not going to talk too much about Cindy Sheehan’s latest meltdown- I am over her.

I felt she was nothing but a pathetic woman devastated by grief, and I felt she was used for a good long while by people who don’t really care about her, but found her position to be useful. Oddly enough, she and I somewhat agree on that point in the end. The real moral of this story is that you just can’t run around spewing nastiness at everyone and expect to make a lot of friends or retain a lot of influence. Who would have thunk it?

On the most important point, though, Cindy and I also agree- it is long past time for this war to end. Go home, Cindy, get a job, mend fences with your family and friends, and work to have a good, happy life.

I felt she was nothing but a pathetic woman devastated by grief,

That’s right, the one thing you don’t want in a citizen who stands up to the government is that she look “pathetic” in the eyes of a blogger. I mean, that just degrades the whole idea of democracy, doesn’t it?

As I said two years ago, heroic citizenship does not require being photogenic, articulate, congenial, or politically adept.

It simply requires standing up. Sheehan stood up, and she’s a hero for doing so. Period.

Someone should explain to her that there’s not much you can do with 50 votes in the Senate and an opposition party in the White House. 2008 is the real Iraq battle as all of the Republican candidates (ok, other than perhaps Paul) think we need to stay and all of the Democrats don’t.

Of course, having said that, the irony here is her attacking the Democrats might be more helpful for the goal of ending the war than anything else she did. I felt for her from the beginning of her movement because she was obviously grief stricken and actually had a decent target to focus on to prevent her from ever getting beyond the grief. I hope this is a first step towards both healing her and ending the war.

Gee, thanks for that Cindy diary link on DKos.

So Cindy woke up on Memorial Day and came to the realization that it’s all about her. And since not enough people realize that, she’s going to take what’s left of her ball and go home. That’ll show them and make them suffer without her presence.

Sorry, can’t stand that woman. She’s like Bush. Just expresses her narcissism differently. The XX version.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the maturity displayed by both poster and commentators, so I’m really sorry to have to do this:

“The real moral of this story is that you just can’t run around spewing nastiness at everyone and expect to make a lot of friends or retain a lot of influence. Who would have thunk it?”

So this explains Michelle Malkin’s career, how?

    Again, I am sorry.

Her son’s still dead, the war’s still going on, and the smirking sack of shit who made it all possible is still in power. I guess she feels like there’s nothing she can do about it. I feel the same way. We’ve all failed to accomplish anything about this situation.

In a sense, we are all Cindy Sheehan. Most of us didn’t lose a kid to this pointless fucking cesspool of a clusterfuck, though. Our families should survive this catastophic Presidency mostly intact. She hasn’t been so lucky. The tragedy is that no sacrifice was great enough to change this Administration’s policies one jot or one tittle. Cindy Sheehan could’ve lost Mrs. Bixby-level numbers of kids in Iraq; she could’ve been an American Niobe, and Bush still wouldn’t have met with her.

The only lesson to extract from this is one we already knew-Bush is an incompetent, indifferent fuck who’s in-over-his-headedness is matched only by his out-of-touchedness. Fuck him, the horse he rode in on, the whores and the pundits and the politicos who helped his rise to power, and the suckers who voted for him. (Sorry, John, but without you and 60 million others like you, none of this could’ve ever happened.)

You’re stupid, you smell funny, and your mother wears army boots.

Seriously, though, you can hardly compare Sheehan – an involuntery Gold Star Mom who picked up media attention by the blessings of the MSM – to Bush – a career politician holding high office who’s been getting fluffed by the right-wing noise machine for nearly a decade.

That is the worst analogy I could imagine.

What was she pimping again? A new movie out? A new television show? Was she the one kicked off “The View”? At least she didn’t use the term “sugar tits.”

    Is the Tillman family pathetic?

How about Professor Andrew J. Bacevich?

What about Zinni, Clark and other retired military leaders?

Are the 75% of Americans who now think this war was a mistake pathetic?

    Almost, at times, the Fool.

The level of integrity that Cindy Sheehan has shown since her entry on the world stage is exemplary. I remember hearing her speak on a radio interview and talk about how it would be her who would wind up comforting others who spoke to her about how horrible they felt over her loss and those of other mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, spouses and loved ones. It brought me to tears then as do her words now.

Her resignation from the Democratic Party is principled stand that should serve as a reminder; she really didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left her, just as it has done with the majority of its constituents.

To get a real feel for this, read Andrew Bacevich’s piece about his son’s death where he describes the response of influential Democrats as essentially, “Don’t blame me.” (See: “I lost my son to a conflict I oppose. We were both doing our duty” sltrib.com/Opinion/ci…ion/ci_5988923)

As Cindy has said, she will always work on the side of justice for all people, but it is beyond what anyone can expect for her to let slip away forever those precious moments and loved ones that still bring her joy.

Thanks for all you have done Cindy to bring a greater understanding of what’s at stake and how you worked so tirelessly to try to make sure others would not have to suffer the agony you suffer. I’m sure your beloved son Casey shared many of the attributes and fine qualities you have shown and that further highlights what the world has lost with the death of your son.

I am a better person for having known your story, your commitment, and that of your son Casey’s. I am humbly sorry that our collective efforts have not produced the results that are so desperately needed to spare others from such tragedy.

I have a different point of agreement with Cindy, and it is this: Democratic millionaires don’t want an end to the war any more than Republican millionaires want to end it. Both only pretend to care what the grassroots ‘think’.

Whoever heard of grassroots thinking, anyway? I mean, if you’ve got the brains to understand how the world works, you’re probably in the system already, making a killing.

Or jealous of those who are, like I am.

She is narcissistic and immature. She also seems to believe she is leading a heroic fight against a vast evil conspiracy. This would explain how she rationalizes making alliances with creeps like Hugo Chavez. It also explains her willingness to attack Nancy Pelosi. Paranoids usually end up going after their allies in the end over perceived lack of loyalty or idealistic purity.

Whatever. I am always sad at how easily people are sucked in by these sort of people. But then again, she has been treated unfairly by alot of folks. There are worse things than being a narcissist. I wouldn’t mind Bush being one if he wasn’t also a stupid, delusional, dishonest asshole. It’s that other stuff that really gets to me.

She’s been through alot. I hope she finds some peace somewhere.

Perhaps he’s not a creep to her. That doesn’t make her rationalizing anything, it makes her human. To me Bush is a creep, but to 28% of the country he’s a freaking god.

“. It also explains her willingness to attack Nancy Pelosi.”

Heck, that doesn’t make her paranoid-it makes her perceptive. Pelosi and the establishment Democratic Party are part of the problem. Nan would be perfectly happy funding wars all day long-as long as it’s her friends, her consultants, her lobbyists, that are getting rich on it.

I met Cindy at Camp Casey. I liked her fine, but I didn’t like her lawyers one tiny bit.

Cindy earned the right to say what ever the hell she wanted. She is more of an American patriot than those who sat around taking cheap shots at her.

She has already earned her place in history with the stand taken at Crawford 2005.

Her detractors are but dust in the wind, and her enemies are destined to be history’s evil villains.

America of today doesn’t deserve her, and she is right to leave us to wallow in our shallow pool of character.

Good luck Cindy, and I hope you find some serenity.

And thus ends the only tiny peace movement of the modern age that actually accomplished anything.

Now back to the endless GWOT and American Idol!
