    Without passing judgement one way or another on what’s going on at Gitmo, do remember that mistreatment can occur without the use of physical violence.

    Also recall that these people aren’t from modern, first-world societies. There was the released Afghani who thought an air conditioner was a torture device (no, really). And, there was one who claimed to have been given truth serum. Maybe the last is true, or maybe it was just medication, or maybe he was trying to cover his ass in case he said something he shouldn’t have.
