This should slow down the “Bush Lied” brigade in DC:

British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his government did not mislead parliament or doctor evidence to justify the war on Iraq, a parliamentary committee concluded Monday.

The Foreign Affairs Committee, which has been probing charges officials exaggerated intelligence on Iraq’s weapons to strengthen the case for war, cleared Blair, a top aide and ministers of the allegations, made on the BBC.

But the committee did slap the government’s wrists for giving undue prominence to questionable intelligence in a September dossier on Iraq’s weapons and for plagiarizing a student thesis for a second dossier published in February.

Now it will probably morph from “Bush lied” to “Bush is incompetent because he has not fixed the CIA Clinton destroyed.”

Has ANYONE kept a tally of all the things Bush and Cheney have been accused of doing that have turned out to be patently false? That could be entertaining.

If you think it’ll slow down the brigade one iota, I’ve got a beach house for sale in the antarctic.

They’ll keep getting shot down, and the RNC (if they’re smart) are taking notes and collecting the most asinine foaming at the mouth by the left for use in campaign ads next year, with the caption “These are the people who want to replace your President.”

“…and the RNC (if they’re smart) are taking notes and collecting the most asinine foaming at the mouth by the left for use in campaign ads next year, with the caption “These are the people who want to replace your President.””

Which leads one to an interesting question: which defining image shall they ever use to properly encapsulate the antiwar movement?

    – The fellow waving the ‘Peace in our Time’ placard?

    – The fellows brandishing the ‘We support our troops when they shoot their officers’ banner?

    – The Vomitors for Peace?

    – The Strip Naked And Form Out The Word ‘Peace’ On Some Muddy Hillside people?

    – Or would just a montage of all those Bush = Hitler signs do the trick?

    It’s a puzzler.

PS: To all of those who would protest at what you would consider to be an unfair categorization of your cause: tough. If you didn’t want your cause represented by loons, you should have made sure that the loons weren’t marching with you. You all knew that this was Big People stuff, and you let the adolescents play anyway, so I for one have no sympathy.

IOW, this is the downside of pumping up your numbers by letting anybody with a mad-on for President Bush and/or Western Civilization on the bus and spouting off with the vituperation. Bon appetit.

    Moe,

Actually, as John noted down below:

    https://balloon-juice.com/archives/cat_general_stupidity.html

the Dems are intent on tarring Dubya w/ anything ANY Republican says that might be embarrassing. Fair’s fair, right? So, the peace party has ITS crosses to bear, too, I guess (or are those hammers-and-sickles to bear?).

I just saw some bad news…

This is one of the news items currently featured at Netscape’s home page:

“Peace is Hell: US Troops in Iraq”

    http://channels.netscape.com/ns/news/world.jsp

    Peace is Hell:
    Life Under Fire

Plagued by bad planning and fatal attacks, the U.S. occupation remains dicey. Are Paul Bremer and the Bush Administration up to the task of making Iraq work?

Time, of course also brought us the Clinton war plan to bring down bin Laden which never existed and the “Bush restarted the placing of a wreath on the Confederate memorial” falsehood…

“Has ANYONE kept a tally of all the things Bush and Cheney have been accused of doing that have turned out to be patently false? That could be entertaining.”

Almost as entertaining (although certainly not as risque) as the list of things that Clinton and Gore have been accused of doing that have turned out to be patently false (Vince Foster, anyone?).

    I’ll bite.

Where are the WMD that Rumsfeld (OK, not Bush and Cheney) meant when he said “We know where they are, between Baghdad and Tikrit”?

Where’s the evidence for Iraq’s nuclear program outside the Niger documents that GWB knew were forged when he referred to them?

Where’s the budget surplus GWB promised to retain in his first tax cut?

    Where’s Osama, Dead or Alive?

Good grief, how many more do you want?

If recent history is any guide, the fact that Parliament has debunked the “sexed up dossier” charge will not cause any of the usual suspects to stop repeating it.
