The indispensable TalkLeft has several links of note up that should be followed closely.
The first involves questionable tactics that the FBI are borrowing from the DEA, the second involves legislation introduced to jail file-sharers.

The Marines have crossed into Iraq, and my secretary has an older brother in the 1st Marine Division. Her younger brother was on the 82nd Airborne Mission in Afghanistan last night.
Good luck and Godspeed.

Clearly, Greenpeace and the Sierra Club should be pissed about this:
Orange flames could be seen Thursday on the horizon in the direction of the southern Iraqi oil center Basra, and U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said three or four oil wells may have been set afire.
Witnesses in Kuwait about eight miles south of the border said the flickering flames were spotted after a series of explosions that shook buildings in the area.
The Arab satellite television channel Al-Arabiya reported that fires had erupted in Iraq’s al-Rumeila field west of Basra and just north of the Kuwaiti border.
I expect them to take to the streets any minute now.

Go watch the new Brain Terminal video of San Francisco ‘peace’ protestors.
After watching it I had two thoughts:
1.) How difficult must it be to run a small business in San Francisco if this is your client base?
2.) How many of the morons shown in the film are frequent contributors to Atrios’s comment board?
It is kind of sad how out there most of those people are.

I guess it is true- rats are the first to desert a sinking ship:
The Foreign Office is investigating rumours that Tariq Aziz, the Iraqi deputy prime minister, has defected to Northern Iraq, the Commons was told today.
Junior Foreign Office minister Mike O’Brien said the rumours came from a Bulgarian source.
Labour’s Ann Clwyd (Cynon Valley), in a point of order, said: “We do have reports that are as yet unconfirmed that Tariq Aziz has defected to Northern Iraq to Kurdish Democratic Party territory (KDP).
*** Update ***
Guess I went monkeyfishing there with this one. Aziz is still in Baghdad.
