Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

“Alexa, change the president.”

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

It’s possible to be a liberal firebrand without crapping on the party.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

A fool as well as an oath-breaker.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

To the privileged, equality seems like oppression.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

People are weird.

If you, like me, have grown tired of lefty bloggers making snide comments about Dr. Frist saving lives, I would recommend visiting this site. It is the complete story of how Ted Kennedy murdered Mary Jo Kopechne. And yes, leaving her submerged to suffocate while he thought only of himself and his political future counts as murder in my book.

Paul Krugman, Martyr, or Why

Paul Krugman, Martyr, or Why I Read Blogs

Sully links to a der Spiegel interview with the Ny Times social critic, ermm, I mean economist, in which he emits few more annoying squeals. My translate software is not working (actually I forget how to use the google translate), so all I have are the Sully quotes:

Instead [of writing a column about the New Economy], I now find myself once again as the lonely voice of truth in a sea of corruption. Sometimes I think that one of these days I’ll end up in one of those cages on Guantanamo Bay (laughs). But I can still seek asylum in Germany. I hope you’d accept me in an emergency.

If you feel dirty after reading that, I understand. Is there anyone who wonders why people like me dismiss Paul Krugman, yet embrace places like Kos’s Political State? At least bloggers will admit they are partisan hacks.

Yes, John, Sometimes I Do Despair:

For many of us who lean to the right but are under the age of 50 and hence missed out on all the good segregation, homophobia, and bigotry of the past, attitudes like this do make us despair:

K-Lo: So DC’s first baby of the year was born to a lesbian couple. New York’s seems to have been to a black single mother. Don’t you sometimes feel like giving in to despair?

Thank you, Derbyshire, for being an unrepentant moron. Thank you for giving some jackass Democrat another opportunity to call all Republicans homophobes and bigots just because we belong to the same party as you. Damned moron.

Some of us out here, btw, Derb., think that maybe a loving father and mother is the best combination. But I will take a gay couple or lesbian couple or a loving single green mother over a dysfunctional family, or no family, or a family that raises children with your bigoted, prejudiced, busybody beliefs. I’ll take two good parents, male-male, female-female, black, white, red, yellow, or green, over your faux morality any day of the week, you ignorant piker.

Can’t keep liberals out of my wallet, can’t keep conservatives out of my bedroom.

Just to Make Things Easier For my Opposition Research:

Will the Senate Democrats who are NOT running for President in 2004 please step forward. The rest of you please step back. This pack is going to rival the seven dwarves of 1988.
