Just dug out an old UT CD-Rom, installed it, and much to my surprise, I can still find all the updates and bonus packso nline, as well as 2000 servers still up and running.
Amazing. Still the greatest shooter ever made. And I am still nasty with a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher.

You should Google “females.”

UT ’99? care to elaborate? I’m 23 and i’ve never heard of that game, at least not by that abbreviation.
The Disenfranchised Voter
Unreal Tournament.
I borrowed it from a friend once. The game really does kick ass.
Oh, how I miss it…

John – I still have my old copy (I think, or maybe it is 2003 I recently found in my desk drawer) but I’d be happy to take you on. I remember when the UT demo first came out I was ranked top 10, but then they reset the stats and I lost my will to continue. I also happened to google “females” around the same time… coincidence?
Ben
are your reflexes still up for UT? i picked it back up after a few years off, and even at my age (22) i can’t keep up. it might just be that the only people still playing are hardcore good, though.

I read “UT,” and at first, I thought “Uncle Tupelo.” I don’t think you can “install” any of their CDs, but I recommend all of them nonetheless.
I’m 31.
Mason
If their CD’s have been released by Sony/BMG, you never know what might install when you try to play one.

That was funny, Mason. :)

Hot damn for coincidences. Just about an hour ago, I was talking with Andrew Ridgeley about [re-]firing up Wham’s Careless Whisper UT Server, now that I’m sysadminning enough real server hardware that I could get away with it and no one would know the difference.
But I’m probably not gonna.

Serenity Now
Wasn’t UT the first-person-shooter featuring player models based on the dancers from Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation tour?

A fair point, and sure enough, the reissues (save for Anodyne) are all on Sony.

Wolfenstien:Enemy Territory Baby. Its free!
I play BF2 now tho. EA sucks. 3 patches and they still have a bug that mislabels some enemy in your team color. Oh, and the thing is a bear to run. Need at least 1GB RAM and a 256MB vid card to run medium settings, and high-speed internet only.
ckrisz
Play DOD: Source for the run&gun stuff and Red Orchestra for the teamwork. RO is still the best damn mod I’ve ever played.

i cant stop playing civ iv

Lets go way back…some abandonware for y’all:
Silpheed [Sierra, 1988]
Uses your internal PC speaker for sound, so might not be good to play at work [unless you go in the bios and turn it off].

Even with the bugs, BF2 is still pretty fun. The red player bug sux, and so does the jumping with C4 control may switch you from pushing a button to laying down more C4. Since I often play as special ops… I notice it a lot.
I’ve got 2GB of RAM, and sometimes see memory usage hit 1.5Gigs. I upgraded to a GForce 6600GT card just recently, but it only has 128 Megs… I can do 800×600 in medium, but that’s about it. It was the fastest card I could get in my poor AGP slot, and I ain’t buying a new computer for another year.
I run as General_Toilet_Duck, usually on the Masters of War, TomClancy or SuxSquad servers. But I move around looking for good games. Been playing a lot of Special forces lately.

Play as CleverType, run with these guys. Don’t play SF [again, bugs being the reason] but on the =S= vanilla server [listed on the site in the link. Have an SF server too.] about every other night. Good group of guys, can really whoop tail when we’re all in the same squad.
Pop on in sometime. Will probably be on this evening after work.
