From NY:
The candidate endorsed by Republican leaders to run for a Congressional seat being vacated by Representative Vito J. Fossella died on Sunday morning at his home in Staten Island, party leaders said.
The candidate, Francis H. Powers, a board member of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, was a retired Wall Street executive and an active contributor to Republican candidates. Mr. Powers, 67, died in his sleep of natural causes, family members said.
Sad for his family, and bad luck for the GOP.

I know my hometown had its flaws…but this is just tsuris that Staten Island doesn’t need. My condolences to Mr. Powers’ family.

I am not up on Nostradamus or the Book of Revelations, but the Republican Party sure looks like it is in an end of times meltdown. What next, locust eats one of their candidates, or a plague befalls Mitch McConnell?

As Napoleon says, if one is a religious person, it really really looks like God is angry with the Staten Island’s Republican party. All the situation with this seat is getting just a bit on the bizarre side of things.

Francis Powers is dead. Long live Francis Powers.

It couldn’t happen to a nicer group of people.

Fixed.
Punchy
Expected, but yet absolutely disgusting.
If a comparable zealot on the left tried this against McCant, the media would bury them in negative press. Instead, excerpts of this will be quoted on every news show for months. I’m sure Obama will be asked 100+ times how it’s possible that he’s not Muslim, since the book says he is, and even says he drinks abortion milkshakes. So clearly he must answer to the discrepancy.

How do we get Rove to run for this seat?
DRD 1812
Wow, first his U-2 gets shot down by the Russians, and now this.

Meanwhile, on the left coast, a Republican right-to-lifer running for an open Congressional seat in Oregon appears to have paid for a girlfriend’s abortion in a romance gone sour back in 2001.
These guys just keep on going, don’t they?
